Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have committed to play in next week's BMW Championship, the Tribune has learned.
The Woods part was certainly expected, given that he has dominated at Cog Hill, winning five times (1997, '99, '03, '07, '09). Woods enters this weekend's rain-delayed Deutsche Bank Championship 65th on the FedEx Cup points list. He will earn a trip to Chicago if he remains in the top 70.

Mickelson, though, is no fan of Cog Hill and has been an outspoken
critic of Rees Jones, who re-designed the layout. And Lefty already has
enough FedEx Cup points to qualify for the season-ending Tour
Championship.
There's nothing that would prevent him from backing out next week, but BMW Championship organizers, heartened by his commitment, do expect him to hit the Windy City.
