DETROIT -- Alexei Ramirez will receive a rare rest as Omar Vizquel starts at shortstop Monday for the White Sox at Detroit.
Ramirez has played in 132 of the Sox's 136 games. Only Juan Pierre, with 135 games, has played in more games for the Sox. Center fielder Alex Rios, who has played in 129 games, also is getting a rest.
First baseman Paul Konerko also is out to rest his lower back. Mark Kotsay will start in place of Konerko and bat eighth.

Sox came from behind again & won in spite of Ozzie! When your in a race 3 1/2 out its no time to rest anybody. Beckham had another bad game but main thing we got the win! Great job by Sale,glad fat boy wasn't brought in to blow one more.
What was the point of taking out Rios and Alexei? Ozzie is an absolute idiot, just daring to throw away yet another game.
To the fool poster who slammed Konerko, Paulie is noted for being a great first baseman with the softest hands in the business. We'll miss him too, but he is injured.
Ozzie is crazy for playing this game without half of his best regulars, totally insane.
I hope we can keep up the momentum. We have to. I think we have to be within two games to overtake Minnesota. I thought they would have cracked by now, but you can do nothing but tip your cap. They are an excellent team that has TAKEN the division from the Whitesox. Maybe we can catch Tampa Bay for the wildcard. We are 7 back of them.
