Tiger Woods is in a good place -- in more ways than one.
The world's (still) No. 1 loves returning to Chicago, where he has won four Western Opens and a BMW Championship at Cog Hill plus two PGA Championships at Medinah.
What Woods mentioned Wednesday, though, was that Cog Hill was the site of his first made cut on the PGA Tour, the 1995 Western Open.
"Great memories," he said.
Woods is also in a better place as a person and golfer. Now more than nine months clear of his infamous SUV accident and two weeks past the news that his divorce has been finalized, Woods said: "It's meant a lot to have people come up to me and just wish me the best and hope that my life heads in the right direction. That means a lot, it really does. I know people have made mistakes in their lives and they can relate."

Woods, who qualified for the BMW Championship (top 70 on the FedEx Cup
points list) by finishing in a tie for 12th at The Barclays and a tie
for 11th at the Deutsche Bank Championship, confirmed that he is working
with Florida teacher Sean Foley.
"The progress I've made since the PGA has been very good, and I'm headed
in the right direction," he said. "Obviously, the confidence is coming
up, and that's just through understanding the concepts, getting results,
as well. I've put a lot of hard work into it, too."
So is Foley Woods' coach?
"He's coaching me," Woods replied with a smile.
When a reporter asked if Woods is paying him, Woods replied: "That's none of your business."
Glad to see Tiger back in action in here in Chicago.
I'll be at the BMW to cheer him on.
