BOSTON -- The White Sox face the challenge of a day-night doubleheader Saturday after their Friday game at Boston was postponed due to rain from Hurricane Earl.
John Danks and Gavin Floyd will be the White Sox's starting pitchers Saturday in games starting at noon (WCIU-Ch. 26) and 6:05 p.m. (CSN) Chicago time.
One of those pitchers will have to come back on short rest Wednesday in Detroit, unless the Sox give a spot start to Tony Pena or someone else.
"We're not sure right now," pitching coach Don Cooper said. "We got to see how it goes and then we'll decide who we'll bring back. If they (Danks and Floyd) work very deep in the game, then we might have to go off the board and look at someone like Pena or (Lucas) Harrell. But we're going to let (Saturday) play out first."
Manny Ramirez arrived Friday at the clubhouse with dreadlocks intact, despite reports that he would be clipped by the barber known as "Monster99."
On WSCR-AM (670) Friday, the barber said of Ramirez, "I don't know how much he's going to take off. Whatever he wants to take off. From a little bit to a lot -- anywhere. But he's going to take off some hair."
Meanwhile, the Sox activated left-handed reliever Matt Thornton and put injuired reliever Erick Threets on the 60-day disabled list to clear a roster spot for third baseman Brent Morel.

Manny get a haircut!? Oh! No1
Christ haven't they ever heard that Samson got his strength from his hair?
It might just be the same with Manny. And being in a pennant race, I don't see how we can take a chance on it.

Tell the truth:
Hadn't you heard? Scott Linebrink has been demoted from the Sox bull pen to Public Relations.

You know, ever since
"Chicago Breaking Sports" website has come on here, what I see is the Trib Sportswriters being overworked to the point where they make mistakes in content.
How would you like to sit down and write four different columns in a day. I haven't counted, but it seems like one story on all sports one right after another.
It just does not make sense that Gonzalez would not know that Linebrink didn't have to moon-light as the Sox P.I. man, and may, out of pure exhaustion, typed in the wrong name.

@ Squawk, you are one funny dude!! Ha!
Gald to hear they brought up Morel. Watched him all spring and he can play better 3rd base than Teahan. Come to think about it, so can I!
Sox reliever Scott Linebrink said a day-night doubleheader has been scheduled for noon and 6:05 p.m. CDT Saturday.

Is Linebrink now the White Sox public relations secretary? Will he be pulling double-duty to off-set the costs of getting Manny for 30 days?
In Boston, already coming down hard and seeing lot of folks from Chicago. White six nation, drop in. Good seats available, lowest starting @ $10. Lets pack fenway for the day night. Your team needs you!
Hopefully the White Sox playoff chances will mushroom now that Morel is on the team.
