Fire defender Gonzalo Segares received an additional one-game suspension and fine Tuesday from the Major League Soccer disciplinary committee for actions against Galaxy defender Leonardo in their game last Saturday.
Segares struck Leonardo during an off-the-ball incident in the game's 21st minute. The officials issued a red card to Segares during the match and, after reviewing the incident, the disciplinary committee rules that additional sanctions should be levied.
In addition to the automatic one-game suspension and $250 fine issued for the red card, Segares has been suspended for another game and fined an additional $250. Segares will serve his suspension during the Fire's next two games (Sept. 8 vs. Toronto FC and Sept. 11 vs. Philadelphia).
