Once the Bears waived Juaquin Iglesias over the weekend, the receiver had visions of reuniting with old college teammate Sam Bradford in St. Louis.
"I thought about it,'' Iglesias said Monday. "It just didn't work out that way. Nobody claimed me, so I wasn't really trying to go anywhere else but the Bears' practice squad.''
After a talk with his wife and fellow receiver Devin Aromashodu -- who played on the practice squads in both Indianapolis and Washington -- Iglesias figured staying put would be his best opportunity.
"He just told me he knows what I'm feeling and just to be strong,'' Iglesias said of his talk with Aromashodu.
The fact that the Bears cut Iglesias in the first place would imply he is not a good fit in Mike Martz's offense. Iglesias does not believe that's the case.
"I feel like I've been doing good in the offense,'' he said. "I feel like when I've been in, I've made plays. It's just a lot that went into this situation and went into their decision. I can't control it. I just have to make the best of my situation.''
Iglesias, from Oklahoma, was one of two '09 third-rounders waived by the Bears. Defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert signed on with the Jets' practice squad.

Love Iglesias because he is a hand catcher. Always uses his hands and he made a few nice catches in the last two preseason games. I feel that Iglesias is one of our better receivers and if Bennett suffer another setback, he will get his opportunity soon. Especially with Martz using multiple receiver sets.
Keep your head up Iglesias.
