Former Blackhawks defenseman Steve Poapst has been hired as an assistant coach with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
Poapst played 307 career NHL games -- including 220 with the Hawks beginning during the 2000-01 season -- and will join the staff of head coach Bill Peters for the organization's top minor-league affiliate.
