The meat grinder portion of the schedule -- that grueling Big East slate -- has yet to be announced. But DePaul won't venture too far from home in building up to it.

The Demons have only one true road game in the non-conference schedule announced today, with new coach Oliver Purnell attempting to establish his program while staying close to home.

DePaul opens at home against Western Carolina on Nov. 16, travels to the 76 Classic in Anaheim, Calif., for Thanksgiving weekend and finishes the non-conference portion with six of seven games at home.
"This schedule allows us to prepare for the BIG EAST season and get better each game," Purnell said in a statement.

Here's a look at the non-conference slate:

Nov. 7: Lewis (exhibition - McGrath Arena), TBD
Nov. 14: Chicago State (McGrath Arena), 5 p.m.
Nov. 16: Western Carolina, 7:30 p.m.

76 Classic (Anaheim, Calif.)

Nov. 26: vs. Virginia Tech or Cal State Northridge (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU), 1:30/4 p.m.
Nov. 28: vs. Stanford, Tulsa, Murry State or UNLV (ESPN2/ESPNU), TBD

Dec. 2: Northern Illinois, 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 5: Central Michigan, 5 p.m.
Dec. 8: at Indiana State, 7 p.m.
Dec. 1: Ball State (McGrath Arena), 7:30 p.m.

DePaul should play all their non-conference games at McGrath Arena...No reason Western Carolina needs to be played at All-State.
