After the Cubs honored Harry Caray with ceremonies moving his statue to the corner of Waveland and Sheffield Avenues, it was time for the finale of the three-game series against Pittsburgh.
Left-hander Tom Gorzelanny took the mound against his former teammates, hoping to give the Cubs their first series win of the season over the Pirates.
The Cubs won 5-3 for their first series win against the Bucs, but may have lost Gorzelanny for some time.
Gorzelanny got through the first couple of innings unscathed, but had to leave with one out in the third after taking a wicked shot off his left hand on a Jose Tabata line drive. Gorzelanny had no time to react, and went down as soon as the liner struck his hand. he was immediately taken to Northwestern for X-rays.
Thomas Diamond came on to relieve Gorzelanny and served up a game-tying home run to Neil Walker, but run-scoring doubles by Kosuke Fukudome's and Tyler Colvin in the third put the Cubs back on top, 3-1.
It was 3-2 in the eighth when Micah Hoffpauir and Jeff Baker added run-scoring singles. Carlos Marmol entered with two outs in the bottom of the inning and walked the first two men he faced to force in a run before striking out Jose Tabata to get out of the jam with minimal damage.
Marmol then finished it off in the ninth for his 25th save, leaving Mike Quade with a 6-3 record in his "audition" for the managerial vacancy in 2011.

Whoohoo! We finally took 2 of 3 from the Pirates! So do I get the manager job or what?
Hey Phil, you've been saying all year that Cubs fans are dumb for showing up no matter what. But wait a tick, now you say that the Cubs organization is desperate so they are making up another day honoring someone to get the fans to come out. So which one is it?
Before answering, maybe you should just stop posting on here, turn on ESPN, and yell out "YAY SPORTS!" when they show any and all highlights. I think that's more up your mental alley.
It is time to honor Harry Caray again!
Lets drag out Dawson and Williams and Banks and anyone that might get the fans excited and come back to the beer garden.
Desperation.
