CLEVELAND -- Jerry Angelo understands the thinking of the coaching staff in not playing quarterback Jay Cutler tonight in the final preseason game against the Browns.
Even given the rocky performances by the offense through the first three preseason games, Angelo is on board with Cutler being one of a handful of veterans to sit out. Todd Collins, signed less than two weeks ago, will get the start in his bid to become the No. 2 quarterback.
"You could look at it from a couple of perspectives," Angelo said. "Obviously, with the performance we had last week it makes sense that where you're coming from, why not end on a feel good in the preseason where you have a chance. But on the other side of it, Todd, we picked him up and we got him late in the process and irrelevant of him being a veteran, he still needs play time.
"You want to get him up to speed as well, so I understand it, it's a call, you can go either way with it. This is the way we chose to go. Hopefully it's the best thing for us now and obviously in the immediate future, early part of the season."
