The Bulls solidified their backcourt and shooting depth Friday, signing veteran swingman Keith Bogans to a two-year contract according to a league source.

Bogans, 30, started 50 games for the Spurs last season and has averaged 7.1 points for five teams in seven NBA seasons. Bogans is a career 35.1 percent shooter from 3-point range.

Management cited improving 3-point shooting as a main offseason goal, and coach Tom Thibodeau has talked about the value of adding shooters in most interviews he has conducted since being hired in early June.

The Bulls, who previously added sharpshooter Kyle Korver, ranked 28th in 3-point shooting last season.

The source said the two-year deal is worth roughly $2.5 million with only the first season guaranteed. Bogans has been on the Bulls' radar all summer and adds depth to a backcourt that also features new faces in Ronnie Brewer and C.J. Watson.

The Bulls now have 12 players under contract, seven of which are new. They still possess a negligible amount of salary-cap space and may still add a minor-minutes point guard reserve. But the roster is basically set.

The Bulls had engaged in trade talks with the Trail Blazers for Rudy Fernandez, but Bogans' signing will likely end those.

Bogans has started 227 of 504 career games so he's comfortable in either role. On paper at least, the 6-foot-5-inch, 215-pounder will open training camp as a reserve behind Brewer.

It sounds like some of you are still hoping for the Bulls to sign Wade or LeBron.
They are filling out the roster after getting rid of some dead weight and you cannot expect them to land all star players every other day.
Do you even watch the NBA or do you just buy the hats?

The Bulls are a much better team than the one we saw last season.

Pretty much in agreement with Ryan and Joe, this is a 12th man signing nothing more. Bulls have a solid team even before this signing and all the moves the Bulls have made make it easier for them to lock up Rose and Noah next year. Also with all the 1-2-3 year deals they have make it easier for them deal before the trading deadline, kapish?

I'm in full agreement with Joe. This signing is exactly what it is, a 12th man signing. Nothing less, nothing more. You guys are taking this way too seriously. Did you really think they would get an All-Star with the little money they had left? Get real. Still need to lock up Noah and Rose long term. Don't forget about that.

Also, just for the record, Asik was acquired from Denver not Portland. Get your facts right before throwing a hissy fit.

The more I read these comments, the more I realize just how clueless Bulls fans here are. Stop posting. You are making us all look like idiots.

Another bullbleep deal. Maybe the bulls will won one series. MAYBE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like the Trailblazers overpriced a disgruntled Rudy Fernandez during trade talk. First the NY Knicks balked at giving up a 1st round pick for Rudy. Looks like they did the same with the Bulls. Trailblazers won't be satisfied until they have all 30 1st round picks from all other teams. Bulls traded for Asik in exchange for 3 2nd round picks with the Blazers once. The Bulls aren't giving away that much again for a spot up shooter who doesn't play a lot for the Blazers anyway.

Bogans' stats look horrible. The Bulls could have signed someone from the summer league!

Hmm. On Friday, Sam Smith tweets that the deal was confirmed by NBA sources on Saturday.

Was this deal made a week ago and nobody knew? Or does Sam Smith have a time machine?

It could have been worst, the Bulls didn't settle for the guys that they signed but the best fit for the team considering what took place in Miami. Everyone in the country knew the Best team for Lebron and Bosh to sign with should have been the Bulls but as we have all seen that these 2 decided to quit and take the easy road to try to win a championship.

Damn what happened to Rudy. I would rather have T-mac than Bogans. This is seriously a 12th roster spot signing. Oh well, They still will win around 50 games. Plus they can pull off a trade at the trade deadline mid season if need be.

The Bulls have been in pursuit of Portland guard Rudy Fernandez, who wants a trade from the Trail Blazers. The acquisition of Bogans does not preclude Chicago from continuing to try and get Fernandez; a source pointed out Friday that the Bulls still have some cap room and only 12 players under contract.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Look out miami heat Bulls signed Bogans Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. This summer has been the WORST EVER.Not one marquee player just 4th rate E level players.I'm disappointed
