Guillen fuming after Sox's 2-4 trip

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 2-4 trip seemed just as bad as an 0-6 trip to manager Ozzie Guillen after the Sox's 3-2 loss Sunday at Kansas City in 10 innings.

"A very horse(bleep) road trip," Guillen said after the Sox paid the price for their 1-for-10 effort with runners in scoring position. "Disappointing, my (bleeping) (rear). Disappointing for (bleeping) managers that have patience. Very bad road trip.

"The way it ended was the way we started - very bad. No excuse. I don't give a (bleep) the way we lose, I don't care the way we win, we didn't get it done. This road trip was very important for us, and we played like (bleep).''

The sense of urgency is becoming more acute for the Sox (67-57), who fell to 4 1/2 games out in the American League Central after dropping two of three at first-place Minnesota and two of three at fourth-place Kansas City.

Fueling Guillen's anger was that the offense failed to produce on a day when closer Bobby Jenks equaled his career high with three (scoreless) innings to aid a bullpen that could possibly lose All-Star reliever Matt Thornton to the 15-day disabled list because of continued soreness in his left forearm.

"We had men on second base for like five times with two outs, and we didn't get a hit," Guillen said. "We're supposed to not give into this guy (Jason Kendall). We give in, base hit to win the game. Very bad, very bad."

Kendall's hit came off reliever Scott Linebrink, who walked Gregor Blanco with two out before Blanco stole second and third base to set up the latest setback for the Sox.

"I want to go home, (bleeping) disappear, have a day off and get it Tuesday (against Baltimore)," Guillen said. "Just better be prepared for Tuesday. They want to keep competing, they have to start playing better.''

Guillen gave some of the credit Sunday to Kansas City ace Zack Greinke, who stranded runners in scoring position in the sixth, seventh and eighth.

"But in the meanwhile, we had a chance to score more runs, (but) we didn't," Guillen said.

i cant believe there are people who call themselves white sox fans putting this all on ozzie and saying that he needs to go and that he is the problem. first of all i have never had a problem with the way ozzie handles the media and probably never will and im actually really happy that this time he is actually directing it towards his own ball club. the one thing i can say is that this year he has done more defending the team to the media than usual and its about time he show anger towards his own team.

and the reason jackson did not pitch this weekend was cooper's decision, not ozzie's and it makes sense because we are in a race for the division and copp already has the rest of the season planned out as far as days off and who will pitch what games. so before u criticize ozzie because you wanted to see jackson pitch realize that they sit down and discuss this while you sit at home and watch while you complain that ozzie is a bad manager. sorry to let you know, ozzie is not going anywhere for a while so instead of crying everytime we are in a slump and blaming it on ozzie take a look at the fact that he even has this team in contention to win this division.

and lastly, i just want to point out that the twins who seem to be the team being praised as possibly one of the best in the league did not really prove to be that much above the sox, we were two bad pitches away from sweeping them at their place. i dont like to make excuses but i just found it odd that we came out of that series as if we were as laughable as the cubs. however, they are now in a position where winning each series is essential. i hear things about possibly acquiring manny ramirez and i actually would like to see kenny roll the dice with that one. he might be just the clutch hitter we need.

King Solomon:

You got to blame OZ.. The hitting and leads were there .. He just didnt use lefty righty advantage at all in most oof the late game looses .. He used Sale who is lights ou t on all lefties .. He made Mauer( odf the twins looks sick ) 99 and 101 MPH.. and Oz uses him after the game is lost with a Grand slam off of Ramos .. Common use the right pitchers at the right time. He use Sale for what 3 innings then cant use him the next night for 1 out ??

Why not walk the guys instead of giving then the righty -lefty advantage .. NOT OZ .. Believe me alot has to go on Ozzie.. Sure the pitchers pitch the ball , but you have to have yje smarts to use the right one at the right time.. He used jenks against Minn over and over with failure .. JJ failed what 3 times in a row. Where most intelligent baseball watchers are see that he slider curves ,etc were not working .

Its Oz too not just thepitchers .. So if Oz is mad he should put some of the blame on himself.. NOT oz

Maybe if Ozzie spent less time trying to make the media pay attention to him rather than the Cubs, he could actually manage the Sox and maybe win a game here and there.

Instead, it's always about the Ozzie show...LOOK AT ME...PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE SOX!!!!!

Ozzie should have been let go in 2007, but he appears to have a free pass for life here.

2005 was a fluke, history has proven that. Ozzie is all smoke and mirrors no brains.

We understand baseball and the concept that the idea is to score more runs than your opponent in a given GAME, not in a series or an entire road trip. Scoring 11 runs in a shutout earns no points for your argument. Besides, most of these comments are directed at the entire season in which the Sox have absolutely sucked at driving in RISP. How many godforsaken times have the Sox loaded the bases with nobody out, often multiple times in a game, and failed to score? I mean it's so routine it's expected from them. And, it is Ozzie's fault because these are the offensive personnel that he wanted. Through the first half of the seaon they couldn't get on base to save their lives. Now, they've raised their batting averages to rather respectable levels, but they are still not driving in runs.

Another aspect of Ozzie's game that is causing so many losses is the propensity of the Sox to run themselves out of innings: to be caught stealing, picked off, cut down advancing and to squander outs by bunting when they should be stealing. Too often when they do bunt a guy over they never bring him home. They give up too many outs both on offense (depriving themselves) and defense (lavishing gifts on the opposition).

The only thing ya got right, King Solomon, is that the pitching staff has indeed been worthy of their hapless offense lately, blowing all those games you noted. The Sox have sucked at every aspect of the game since the All Star break. Yeah, I blame Ozzie. The buck stops with him. He's the one who generates so much heat with his yap, if he can't take it, let him get out of the kitchen.

That Kool-Aid must be tasty, eh?

Do you people know anything about baseball, the sox scored 47 runs on this road trip and had a chance to win every game,so you cannot blame the hitting. The bullpen has blown every game, and JJ Putz has blown Three games in a row,so stop blamin Ozzie for everything.

says Ozzie goes to the Marlins, not the Cubs.

He lives down here and they still sort of love him (are amused by him?) here.

Actually, they have the sort of young, talented and semi-reckless team that he would just love to mess up with his crazy philosophy.

I have seen the light on August 22, 2010 8:44 PM

Ozzie conceived this team and the lame ineffective offense that it employs, an offense that can routinely squander 10 hits or more and get minimal runs, eventually stressing the bullpen to the breaking point. Ozzie writes out the most bizarre lineups and makes the most inopportune substitutions, like putting in Jones for defensive purposes just before the bullpen blows a lead. Must have done that close to a dozen times this year. He pinch runs guys for slow pokes but rarely pinch hits for his Mendozas. It's like he disdains winning using some real firepower, preferring to win like the Royals did today. The main difference is that he and his minions are incapable of doing so. Don't even get me started on his mishandling of the pitching staff. What kind of a lame excuse did he use for not using Jackson this entire weekend? Because the guy threw seven whole pitches in the aborted game? That's total idiocy, just completely irrational. He obviously doesn't care if the team wins or loses. Just loves to hear himself rant. Kenny Williams needs to take a long cold look at Ozzie's judgement and performance over his seven year tenure. It's simply nowhere near as good as the Kood-Aid drinkers assume.

I don't know why there are so many upset Sockie fans, I really thought this was a great series between two extremely evenly matched teams.
Of course each of those teams is heading in different directions. Next year their positions most likely will be reversed. One of them has no farm system, and some real dandies for announcers.
Hawkeroo, is a Roger Clemens mental, twin. A big baby. Of course JOe West is tto, thats why they don't like each other.

Rocco, how is Ozzie an idiot? He's pissed just like everyone else. The bullpen has completely CHOKED the last 3 weeks as we have not been able to hold anything resembling a lead whatsoever. No matter who Ozzie threw out there they haven't gotten the job done be it Jenks, Putz, Thornton, or Linebrink. Who else can Ozzie go to? You can't put Chris Sale in everytime.

Much needed day of Monday. I just hope the Bullpen got the message. When the bullpen can't hold leads it puts more pressure on our offense.

Anyone calling for Ozzie to be fired needs to go back to the Cubs board and continue whining about Sweet Lou. Because their solution to everything is to fire the manger.

we're playing like crap. Someone better wake this team up. We should've swept KC, it was right there in our grasp!!! Gain 1 1/2 in the standings and put the heat on the twin cities team

I don't know why he should complain, he's the one who makes out the lineup.

Ozzie, your time has come to leave Chicago. Go back home and be with your Commie friend Hugo Chavez and his terrorist friends from Iran. If you don't like what i say, then %&!# you!
