WASHINGTON -- Former Cub outfielder Bob Dernier, the club's roving minor league outfield and base-running coach, has been brought up to serve as Mike Quade's first base coach the rest of the season.
Ivan DeJesus moves from first to thrid base. Dernier, who was part of the "Daily Double" along with Ryne Sandberg on the 1984 Cubs, is in his fourth season on the Cubs' coaching staff.
So is this a sign that Ryno could be called up for next season?
