Agree with comments above. We don't have a FS on this team. Not Harris, not Manning. We need this kid healthy!
Hey,
Am I the only one that thinks, at least from a physical tool standpoint, Major should start at free and Danieal should start at Strong?
Danieal looked very good at strong safety against the Cardinals...
Hopefully the Bears will do the following 3 things before the opener against Detroit.
1. Start Major Wright if healthy. Although he's a rookie he can't be any worse than Manning or Harris. Manning has horrible instincts and if Harris was still that good Carolina would not have traded him.
2. Move Hester to the slot and Knox and Aromashodu on the outside. Hester will succeed much better against the opponent's 3rd corner rather than their 1 or 2. Hester is not a 1 or 2 receiver.
3. Keep Manumaleuna next to Chris Williams all the time. No explanation needed.
As bad as Chris Harris looked in coverage against the Cards, we need Wright to not only play, but to max out his potential. Manning appears to be looking good as the strong safety, but having someone like Harris at the free is a disaster in the making. He was not a good coverage safety before as a strong, so why would he be better as a free?
Now I am ok with Harris at the strong, or having him come in when Manning moves to the nickel, but I also think Corey Graham has earned the nickel spot, giving us 3 tall, physical corners to play against guys like Calvin Johnson, and the Packers seemingly endless supply of guys over 6' tall on the roster...
Once again, 2 years later, offensive line and safety are still positions in flux...Way to go Jerry....
