Does the NBA.com store know something everyone else doesn't or is this just a ploy to pry money from the wallets of hopeful Bulls fans?
Either way, they're already selling LeBron James No. 6 Bulls jerseys. Anyone can go to the NBA store and customize a jersey with any number and name and while this was listed as such, it appeared on a page with all other available Bulls jerseys.
A search of the Knicks, Nets, Heat and Clippers store turns up nothing. Granted Mario Chalmers wears No. 6 for the Heat and Courtney Lee the same number for the Nets, so that might be a little unfair to those players.
So what happens if you shelled out $65 for that jersey and LeBron signs elsewhere

Instead of the default "00" jersey on the NBA Store site earlier today, the picture you got when you went to the page -- BEFORE CUSTOMIZING -- was the picture you see above, a jersey with "JAMES 6" already there and looking just like the Rose and Hinrich ones there now, NOT like the "after" picture of the customized version. The Tribune didn't make it up. I saw it, too, and so did many others. It means absolutely nothing besides the NBA Store made a mistake, but what you are describing is absolutely wrong. Yes, everyone knows you can customize a jersey on the NBA Store. Thanks. Everyone can create one, take a screen shot and put it on their flickr page. Thanks. But not everyone can load an image onto NBA servers ... and it's still there. Check the URL Northside linked to.

We'll this is weird... I just tried customizing a Bulls C.Bosh and D.Wade jersey on NBAstore.com and got this message below...
"Your current entry cannot be processed. Some entries are prohibited due to guidelines for past and present player names. Please create a new entry."
However when you customize a James jersey it goes through fine with no error message. It even shows the preview.

WoW..let me try and explain better for you that don't understand.
Anyone can go to the NBA website..make a custom jersey..and preview it.
Once the preview is closed (x'd out) it will no longer be able to be viewed. Hence the reason its not on the site anymore.
If you notice it doesn't say "Adidas Chicago Bulls Lebron James Road Jersey"
Instead it says "Adidas Custum Chicago Bulls Road Jersey"

I want Lebron in a Bulls uniform as much as the next fan, but come on...this is just some stupid site posting garbage without really looking at it first.
And why else would they not be selling any red Bulls jerseys for adults on the site right now? Somebody screwed up and jumped the gun.
Customized jerseys are side by side. The ones they already have made for players (like the Derrick Rose youth one still being sold) are created by the NBA and overlap. So this is legit. Doesn't mean he's signing with the Bulls. Just means the NBA Store had it ready to go for the Bulls - and no one else.
@JAY Actually on NBA.com store there was a sepereate replica jersey on there with #6 and james on the back. It was not a custom it was one that was for sale

Do you really just go into message boards look for info and then run and post it on the web? You obviously weren't smart enough to realize that it was a custom jersey on a site that gives you the opportunity to create and preview the jersey you want. I just made a jersey with my name and number on it. Why dont you grab a picture of that and post it. I must be getting signed by the bulls too..haha
