The Arizona Republic reports: Mesa mayor Scott Smith confirmed three front-running locations for a new Cubs spring-training complex as the city attempts to finalize a plan to sell to voters by late September.
Momentum was thought to be building for either Riverview Park and its golf course, or for downtown Mesa. A site in northeast Mesa also is being considered. The Cubs apparently rejected the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport area.
