Plenty of empty seats tonight at Wrigley Field as the Cubs take on Houston in the start of a three-game series.
The bleachers were about two-thirds full at gametime, and there were dozens of vacancies in the premium box seats between the dugouts.
Carlos Silva, making his first start of the second-half, hoped to last a little longer than his last start of the first-half. That's when he was ejected with one out in the second inning in Los Angeles, trailing 5-0, for yelling a profanity at the first base umpire.
Incredibly, Silva lasted only one inning before being removed. He began by loading the bases with no outs and giving up a two-run single to Hunter Pence and a two-run double to Carlos Lee. The Astros knocked out seven hits in the five-run first and won 11-5.
In his last two outings, Silva has a 42.43 earned-run average, allowing 11 earned run on 13 hits and five walks in 2 1/3 innings. Homers by Tyler Colvin and Aramis Ramirez pulled the Cubs to within three runs in the sixth, before Chris Johnson's two-run homer off Justin Berg in the seventh made it 10-5.

Wojo, Pierre, etc.
We're talking about you, man of many faces.
Didn't I encountered you one time in the jungle when I accidentally stumbled into that baboon colony?

Dragon would you STFU already! You have no idea what you are talking about.
Dusty,
That guy "Pierre" posts on both boards and has been after me with all his different names like a pack of hyenas after a wounded lion.
Finally, the guys are figuring out that it is just one person posting under different names with his inane posts.
He is a lonely hateful mis-fit that sits around the forums agreeing with himself under all different kinds of names, and you have to study his writing syle, that, like dna you can't hide.
In other words he is not fooling anybody.

Of course Sox 05 is only now getting around to posting the final score of last night's Sox game. I'm sure he got way too loaded last night and missed the ending of the game. That's okay though because we all know he's an unemployed loser who lives alone and had no good reason to wake up this morning. And I figure that Dragon guy missed the end of the Sox game too because he had a World of Warcraft mission that he couldn't miss.
Echo:
That is cub thinking, that one game makes a season. So the Sox lost to a very lucky team, but we got it right back and lead the division by two games and a half. So what else can you say?
I sat down and figured that if the cubs win all the rest of their games they should finish in third place in the NL Central. ROTFLMAO 10 1/2 out OMG I'm surprised there is anyone on this forum at all.
I think they are all over on the Sox board making fun of a winner, since they don't know what the word "winner" means, they think it is worse than "loser". Har, har, har, ho, ho, heeeeeeeeeeeeee!

WS lose again, Cubs WIN! on July 19, 2010 12:19 PM
Let's see, the WS lose 3 of 4 to the "COCKROACHES" (LOL)!
That was pretty funny, Le.grand.fromage. How many times have the Twins beat you now?
Your stupid announcers on WGN sure were speechless, huh? That was priceless.
And how about those Cubs! Knocking halladay out in the early innings. Way to go Cubs!
I'm sure all the WS fans are still in mourning today from the tough weekend they had. Too bad. They are so over-rated anyway.
You're lucky streak is OVER! Now you get to play some good teams for a change.
Bye, bye.
-------------------------------------------------------------
You guys are right you have a really good team.
That Silva case is one of the strangest that I have seen since I started following baseball 70 years ago.
In his entire career that little winning steak was the highlight, now he can't even get the side out, and like Zambrano, throws temper tantrums when he gets a bad call.
No wonder non-baseball fans go to Wrigley, the side show is better than the main event.
It makes me wonder what goes on inside the clubhouse.

Ah yes, the real Silva is finally showing up.
Even the horrible NL has finally figured out the horrible pitcher, Carlos Silva. No more wins for this mug this year.
Hey Roach - How's your boys?

Give up what? Getting drunk at Wrigley?

What did you expect? Everyone should remember why Silva is even on the team. If the guy got five victories for the year, it was worth getting rid of Milton Bradley.

On the bright side, tonight's game was another one that the increasingly-lousy MLB TV package didn't carry.
Cub fans lets not give up just yet.
This is the most effed up team in the National League. They almost sweep the Phillies and now they succumb to one of the worst teams in baseball. What's with Silva. Back to old habits. Get rid of DLee and Theriot. They are good in the field but prevent a lot of wins because they cannot hit. The rest of the team seems to be coming out of it but these two clowns can't get it together. Either way, it will be quite awile before there is ever a championship team in Wrigley. Management or the players or both?? You make the call!!
Whew! Was afraid they really had turned things around. Thanks Cubs, for being Cubs.
Why oh why can't I kick my Cubs habit??? Life would be so much easier. Yet here I am, checking on the Cubs once again. Sigh.
Maybe the Cubs should find out if Silva is still hurt before the next game he's scheduled to pitch. Couldn't hurt.
