What he meant to say was, 'as a team, when we don't do well, things like trades happen', and, obviously, the team has not done well. He simply did not word it correctly. Lilly did fine, the team failed as they cannot get the clutch hit to drive in the necessary runs to win, and, it just so happens that Lilly is the one, esp since he is a lefty, that was the most desirable player for the Cubs to trade. Remember, trades take 2, you have to have something that the other side wants, if you want to get something of value in return, which, it looks like they may have, even though you will not see it right away.

Lilly "didn't perform up to expectations"? Give me a break. How about the fact that "He had the lowest run support in the majors"?
We should be so lucky!!!
Cubs trade Piniella and Trammell to a retirement home to be named later.
