Virginia McCaskey, the daughter of NFL founding father George Halas, remains the respected matriarch of the Bears franchise and the prevailing voice in major decisions.
"The whole idea is communication...fostering communication," said George McCaskey, named on Wednesday to succeed his brother, Michael, as chairman of the board beginning in 2011.
"No decision is made in a vacuum. She's a member of the board and we talk all of the time as a family about the direction of the team. She's vital, she's vigorous, she works out on a regular basis, and she is a joy to have around and be around."

This article really helps explain why the Bears have won one championship since 1963. The team is being run by a lady who is older than my grandmother, and her sons, whose only claim to football fame is being the grandchildren of GSH, and winning nothing for the last 25 years. By their logic, i should either be a great fighter pilot, or own my own company, as that is what my grandfathers did.
Revie, I believe there are 10 left and Virginia so 11 total. So one down and 11 to go, well not including Smith, Angelo, and Phillips. Brian by the way is actually a guy I would like to see run the Bears, but oh no brother George got the nod because he is part of the super secret society that is the McCaskey family.
Sorry the old lady has no buisnees making any choices, we all saw her when the Bears won the NFC, she didn't even know where she was at. Time to retire and get the hell out of the way for someone who has a clue. She's 87, its called manditory retirment. The Bears are run by a bunch of idiots, you literally have no clue who is making the calls on a week to week basis.
A vital force at age 87. Great transition planning, This family's vital forces are on about the same level as the offensive line's abilities. Please sell the team to some one interested in winning.
One down and....... how many of them are left anyway?
Yup - Management by McCaskey committee.
