Alex Brown has been out of work for only four days and there is already considerable interest in the veteran defensive end.

The reigning Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints are first up for Brown. A league source said Brown will visit the Saints on Tuesday and more trips could be in the works for him.

The Saints are seeking a defensive end after releasing former first-round draft pick Charles Grant. They were reported to be interested in James Hall and Leonard Little earlier in the offseason. Hall re-signed with the St. Louis Rams.

There is a sizeable group of 30-plus ends on the street, including another ex-Bear Adewale Ogunleye, but Brown could prove to be the most attractive of the bunch for his ability to rush the passer and play the run.

One of the questions Brown will have to answer for himself, and the Saints will have to answer, is whether or not he can play left end in Gregg Williams' defense. Veteran Will Smith occupies right end in New Orleans. Brown could also play in a rotation for the Saints and get opportunities on both sides.

The Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also believed to have interest in Brown. The Bucs use the same defensive scheme and had hoped to sign Aaron Kampman in free agency. The Panthers are going to try to replace the richest new Bear, Julius Peppers, by committee and Brown could be a big part of that committee if he heads there.

It's been rumored that the Detroit Lions could also have interest in Brown, and the Tennessee Titans could also become a player for him. First, Brown will meet with the Saints. There are no restrictions against New Orleans signing him as a free agent because he was released by the Bears.

"I believe I can play four or five more years, I mean good years," Brown told the Tribune last week when the Bears officially released him. "Shoot, over the last four, five years I have been so close to having the magical number everyone looks for as far as sacks (10). As far as what I have been doing, I'm in my prime still."

why do you guys pay creighton any attention. i mean seriously just look at the name he picked. i believe he was the same idiot in his 50's in a fat hawaiian shirt that thought he knew everything also on the cbmb. the guy is a loser and knows nothing about football. as for alex brown solid player but i think we need more than solid play on this defense. if jp was the acquisition we needed to jump start this defense then why settle down now, might as well go full speed ahead.

Creighton you are a moron.

Please..... Tripper you have never had a girlfriend so how would you know. By the way your the same looser Brad Biggs had to tell to stop pretending to be other people on his old blog. You would actually have conversations with yourself. Kind of intresting how JPGR and you posted less than 5 min of each other. 4 MIN on a board with a minimum 5 min delay. So his post wasn't even up and yet you responded to it. You seem to do that a lot. Do you enjoy conversing with yourself? You can post at the same time as someone but its not possible to respond to a post that wasn't up yet. Unless you wrote it.

I like to hear how ex-Bears doing! The level of interest from other NFL teams, reflects on if the management cut wisely or plain dumb! I still do not understand why Alex Brown was cut! Shouldn't the best players be on the field?

This would be a perfect replacement for Charles Grant, Frank
