Sox GM Williams scolds loafing Viciedo

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Dayan Viciedo didn't run out a pop and received a special message from general manager Ken Williams during Monday's B game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Viciedo jogged to first base, prompting Williams, who was sitting in the stands, to yell at his Cuban prospect to run to first base.

After the out, Williams walked from his seat before home plate to the Sox's dugout to talk to manager Ozzie Guillen about the incident.

Matt Thornton threw a scoreless first inning, although he needed an accurate throw from right fielder Stefan Gartrell to home plate to nail Brian Giles to end the inning. Gartrell left the game in the bottom of the second after getting hit on the left knee by a pitch. The Sox lead the Dodgers 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

Every report and scout had the same comments about this guy before he was even signed, he was kicked off the Cuban National team because he was overweight and lazy and every MILB report said the same thing about him last year, why is Williams just catching on?

Hey Joe how do you know whether or not this is normal for him or a isolated incident? How do you know he's a waste? When did you get hired in the organization? How were we saying this last year when he was playing minor league ball? Common sense would say there is something to him or he wouldn't be in Arizona, you can't cure stupid Joe.

The guy was a fat lazy slob before Kenny signed him, he has no right chewing him out for being who he is.

Viciedo had better watch out.Williams is known for releasing players while still on the field during spring training."The Hawk" told this tale several years ago.A highly regarded prospect was giving the coaching staff a hard time during one spring training in 04.He continuly argued with the staff and was frankly insubordinate at times.Williams was in the stands that day, witnessed another episode with this prospect.Williams came out of the stands, and in front of the entire team released that player on the spot and told the rest of the team they could leave also if they dont start listening to the staff.

When does Kenny, scold Kenny, for signing Kenny jr?

What a joke, and he's in the major league camp too.

Now isn't that a better story, lil Richie McKinney?

I love it though. I wish the Cubs had a GM or manager that would do this to Ramirez and Soriano.. But the Cubs Brass have no Ba!!!!s.
Lou wont say anything and Hendry woulsd say hell get better.. Sick of the no structure Cubs.

It's about time.

Haven't we been saying this about this guy since last year? What took Kenny so long to finally get up the nerve to say something? Viciedo is a waste, you can't cure lazy.
