Taylor inherits Peterson's No. 29 with Bears

Running back Chester Taylor will wear No. 29 for the Bears, the same number he had with the Vikings last season.

This all but confirms that Adrian Peterson, who has worn No. 29 for the last eight seasons, will no longer be with the team. Asked a week ago if he had heard from the Bears, Peterson -- now a free agent -- said in a text message that he'd had no contact with anyone from the organization. Peterson said after the season that he didn't expect to be back.

New tight end Brandon Manumaleuna will wear No. 86, which was last worn by Marty Booker two seasons ago.

I really think it was mistake to cut adrian peterson. He was s strong RB and was great on special teams. Their loss.

good luck ap i hope lovie and jerry follow u. soon!

Adrian Peterson was never disappointed me. Every time he was given a crucial responsibility, he came through by one means or another. Meanwhile we had Rex Grossman giving it all back and AP was without any notice.

Hopefully, AP and the Bears can put all that behind them.

Mr Peterson, I wish you the best and I hope you find a place and position where you will be appreciated.

From the very start the Bears got the wrong Adrian Peterson, we wanted the one playing for the Vikings.

I will never figure out the Bears personel decisions. They wanted to cut AP before a snap ever took place in pre season in favor of Kevin Jones (a gimp who nobody else wanted) and Garrett Wolfe ( a circus midgit that they keep running between the tackles). Peterson spoiled their plans by staying healthy and producing. I guess his 7.3 yds a carry last year, and his ability to catch passes out of the backfield were of no interest to the Bears. AP is getting old but he did nothing but overachieve as the 3rd back and the Bears treated him like dirt last year. Just another Bears mystery like letting Marco Columbo go because he is hurt and giving cripple Tommie Harris monster money to play on his barstool legs.

keep your chin up AP. From what I've seen on TV with regards to your personal life, family and work ethic you are a solid human being. Thanks for your nose to the grindstone work ethic during your bears tenure. Classy move bears, giving up his number before notifying him that he won't be invited back.

You know that is really sad. Man never had a chance to be a starting RB for the Bears.

Now the Bears running game is not going to be improved. The Bears are getting ripped off on some weak RB such as Chester Taylor. They ruined Matt Forte by making him lose weight, thus curtaling his power to be a power running back. Additionally, they have Kahil Bell who is okay but still to stinking small. And finally they have a little pipssqueak and weak RB in Garrett Wolfe who can't do anything because he is too weak.

And the Bears want to get off the bus running? Runing with these weak no-power RB's? LOLOLOLOLOL

AP was a great contributor the first 6 seasons he was a Bear...the last 2 he was borderline-to-terrible. He had at least 5 idiotic personal fouls on special teams, almost always at important times in the game. And it's been a few years since he was the first guy down on kick coverage. I wish him the best.

AP was one of the reliable players on this team. Showed up, did his job well, and kept his mouth shut. Never got arrested; didn't run his mouth, or knock up women all across town.

AP was a stuttering retard.

Thanks for everything AP. You were one quality guy. Best of luck to you. I think a lot of fans forget that the players are real people who move on in life.

Good Luck AP!

Although it is the right thing to do,but its still a little sad that AP is no longer a Bear. He was a warrior w/us & was a quality human being most important of all. I'll always appreciate his work ethic & the many great plays on our special teams from day 1.

Don't even bother answering that payton34 clown, he is always on here harassing Bears fans and acting like an idiot. Most of us just ignore him.

Damn! I was hoping we could resign Marty Booker.

HHH, are you crazy or just plain stupid? Name one top tier player who didnt have some jealous teammate from his former team say he was a pr*ck? goes with territory.

We also heard all the same garbage about Cutler.

;;;;;;;;

Everything they said about Cutler, from being a guy who can only play between the twenties, to him throwing to the wrong team too often, to him whining and pouting all the time all seeded to be accurate after watching him play this year.

Peppers already has #90! Stop believing all this stuff about players after they leave town! We also heard all the same garbage about Cutler! When a former a Panther or Bronco comes forward about Peppers and Cutler all that talk should be ignored!

If all the rumors out of Carolina about Peppers being a selfish pr*ck are true, we should be hearing from him soon about what number he wants wear instead of how it doesn't matter and he just wants to play football.
I hope they are wrong.
