Report: Tiger Woods took pain pills before crash

While waiting for an ambulance to take her unconscious husband to the hospital after he crashed his SUV, Tiger Woods' wife handed officers two bottles of pain medicine that she said he had taken earlier in the day, according to investigative records released Friday to the Orlando Sentinel.

She also tried to ride in the ambulance to the hospital with her husband, but the crew wouldn't let her, saying this was a case of domestic violence, the Florida Highway Patrol records show.

Those details and others were released Friday by the agency, following a Dec. 16 public records request by the Orlando Sentinel.
Woods was injured in a crash Nov. 27 when he tried to leave his Isleworth, Fla., mansion about 2:30 a.m. but bounced off two curbs, ran through a row of shrubs, hit a fire hydrant and then crashed into a tree in his neighbor's yard.

The Highway Patrol ticketed him for careless driving, and he paid a $164 fine.

The Highway Patrol records also reveal that the afternoon of the crash, the agency's troopers tried to get medical records from the hospital, HealthCentral in Ocoee, Fla., that would have shown whether Woods had been drinking or was under the influence of drugs.

An emergency room nurse, however, said the records department was closed, and troopers would have to come back the following Monday.

Troopers did, arriving about 7 a.m. Nov. 30, the first business day after the crash.

"The director of medical records at first stated their computer system was not working, then she stated that they would not provide that information without a warrant on D-1 (Tiger Woods) regarding whether or not medical blood had been drawn," wrote the Highway Patrol's Thomas DeWitt.

Golfer That Cheats on March 13, 2010 8:26 AM

Tiger is the golfer that cheats! Now it is alleged he drives while intoxicated!

Im sure he has taken a lot of pain pills after the crash.

Yo, let's all show some respect. Within 28 days, you will hear about him winning a PGA tournament. Then, this adultery will pass.

He is the greatest competitor in the last half-century. Book it.

Why are we STILL hearing about this. I couldn't care less about Tiger Woods. Talk about beating a dead horse.

He should have been charged with DUI.

Alabama Man, there are plenty of us who DO care. We can't stand lowlifes like Woods and would love to see him fall. Maybe you think that getting married to one woman and conducting affairs with 13+ others is OK, but most of us do not. So f off.

No sports fan cares about any of this, we just want the best player to ever play his sport to get back out there.

This story is so over. Let it go.

I'm waiting for him to appear in public so I can verify the rumor I heard that his wife sliced his face open with a 9 iron.

Look at the bright side of the latest travails concerning the Sex Addict Savior of the PGA - if Tiger's a pill popper to boot, it'll come as welcome news to Mark McGwire and the other MLB Roidies....perhaps taking some of the noteriety off of them.

One word can summarize this entire scenario - "yawn".

suicide attempt...?

It Is What It Is on March 12, 2010 4:01 PM

Spare me - "Tigers don't change their stripes"... this is nothing more than him trying to redeem himself - too late!!

not surprised one bit on March 12, 2010 3:53 PM

Nobody cares??? Yet another example of the rich and famous getting away with something that would have landed anyone else in jail, and "Alabama Man" says let the story die. Sorry to throw mud on your idol but this story represents exactly what's wrong with America. Rich guy bribes little guy to defy the law.

Oh look another case of a rich celebrity being protected whereas if average Joe or Jane was in Tiger's shoes they would've spent the night in detox for driving under the influence and had drivers license suspended.

Can we let this story die already? Nobody cares.
