Joe,
Doesn't EVERYONE complain about their pay?
It's the American Way!
By "class act" I meant not whining constantly and lying down kicking their feet about playing time, and everything else. (Like Benson?)
When he was top dog and the Bears' bought in Benson anyway, he quietly worked out the deal with the Bears' to be traded.
Bill,
He was a hard worker, a strong locker room presence, and a solid player, but by no stretch would I call a player who complains about the contract he signed after every year for the last 4 seasons a class act. He got less than he would have made in New York, and probably would still be there if not for his annual rite of wanting a better deal. They drafted Shonn Greene primarily because of his threat to hold out.
He never offered to give back money to Arizona when he was not playing well, and expected them to honor his deal, so why is it different when the shoe is on the other foot?
Look, I like TJ as a player as well, but I am not fond of a player who cries "woe is me, I am being wronged" when he signed the deal...
Glad to see that T. Jones continues to do well.
He was one class act despite the Bears' buffoons in the front office.
