All four teams picked as the No. 1 seed have a legacy to continue.
Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse and Duke have among the strongest and most storied basketball traditions in the country. Now one of them will try to add to its history with a national title.
Kansas (32-2) is coming off Big 12 regular season and tournament championships are now the overall No. 1 seed of the NCAA tournament headed to the Midwest Region in St. Louis. With blend of youth, experience and intimidating depth, the Jayhawks will go after their second title in three seasons.
Kentucky (32-2), which is the second overall seed, didn't cut down the nets after winning the SEC tournament on Sunday. They're saving that for Indianapolis. The young and relentless Wildcats head to the East region in Syracuse.
Duke (29-5) won the ACC and has people questioning their depth and guard play, but the Blue Devils earned the third seed surprisingly over Syracuse. The Blue Devils have a terrific tandem in Jon Scheyer and Kyle Singler. They head to the South region in Houston.
Syracuse (28-4) bowed out early in the Big East tournament and two of its top players (conference player of the year Wesley Johnson and center Arinze Onuaku) are dealing with injuries. With guard Andy Rautins sharp-shooting, their stiffling zone defense and coach Jim Boeheim at the helm, don't count out the Orange, which head to the West region in Salt Lake City.
