UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- The Islanders scored two goals in 25 seconds and chased Blackhawks goaltender Antti Niemi from the game and lead 5-2 after the second period.
The first goal was scored at 2:27 by Blake Comeau, who took a cross-ice pass and blasted a high shot past Niemi that appeared to be deflected. The second goal was scored at 2:52 by Jon Sim, who muscled a shot from point-blank range past Brian Campbell and Niemi.
The Islanders scored again at 7:06 when Richard Park caught up to a loose puck at the right face-off circle and drilled a shot over Cristobal Huet's glove. Comeau scored against on a wrist shot with 17.3 seconds left, and the Islanders' jubilant fans flooded the ice with hats to mark his first NHL hat trick.

Neither of the stiffs they have in goal will do the job.
If this team has ANY Cup aspirations, they need to make a trade for a real goaltender, otherwise it's over.
NYI are one of the worst offenses and were on a horrid losing streak and they completely smoked a supposedly better team.
3 goals should be good enough against a piss poor team, if you are saying seriously that a Stanley Cup is possible.
The guys that went to the Olympics could only give it one period, after that, the whole team looked gassed. Coach Q shoulda sat especially Hossa as a healthy scratch as long as they were going to lose this one to a rested Islanders.
Sorry Caldwell, Huet has been MUCH better. Given up only 2 goals in 2 times the playing time and he has not played in over a month.
BY the way, the Hawks have had to Pull Niemi twice in a couple weeks of playing time and given up at least 4 goals many times.
