Cubs' Lilly determined to pitch in Cactus game

MESA, Ariz. -- Pitching coach Larry Rothschild said Monday he wasn't sure whether rehabbing left-hander Ted Lilly would pitch in a Cactus League game this month.

But Lilly seemed pretty sure he will.

"Oh, yeah," he said Tuesday morning at HoHoKam Park. "At the end of the day, it's their call as to what I'm going to do, but I'd certainly like to get out and face some competition soon. I think I'll be able to get ready to pitch in a game fairly soon. It's hard to give any dates. ... (Wednesday) will be my second bullpen day, so towards the end of spring, something like that."

Lilly said his left shoulder, which underwent offseason arthroscopic surgery, feels good.

"There's not anything that said that I need to slow down," he said. "I'm trying to listen to my body and push it a little bit."

Everyone knows that sites like those and Wikipedia can be edited by anyone. How do we know you didn't change those sites just so you could say you were right? Luckily, it is common knowledge that Lou Brock was traded to the Reds and that Cubs fans have been main rivals with the Reds ever since. And I know I am right because I went to the Hall of Fame last year and saw Lou Brock there with a Reds hat on!

I think you are thinking of when the Cubs traded Rafael Palmeiro to the Cardinals to make room for Mark Grace. I have no clue what the Cubs were thinking there. Palmeiro hit 49 homers and was the NL MVP in 1987, then in the spring of 1988 they send him packing? What on Earth were they thinking? Luckily he didn't do much with the Cardinals and they traded him to the Rangers the following year. I think that's why the Cardinals and Cubs don't have a huge rivalry, at least not as big as the Cubs and Reds do. Maybe you should read up on your baseball history before posting on here next time!

I forgot to give my division winner prediction. I am going to say the Reds. Dusty Baker is a great manager and should win at least 107 games. I also expect Chapman to go 24-2 with a 1.79 ERA and 336 strike outs, win Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, start the All-Star Game, and throw two no-hitters. I also expect Jay Bruce to break out and have the 50 homer season we've all been waiting for. Can anyone say MVP Bruce? My numbers on Bruce .331 54 HR 161 RBI. It's going to be a great year for the Reds and all the Cubs fans are going to be crying because we know ever since the Cubs traded Lou Brock to the Reds the Reds have been the Cubs public enemy #1. And I predict that the Cubs will fire Jim Hendry on June 17 because they will all be mad that he let Dusty Baker leave to take the job in Cincinnati a few years back.

It's going to be a long year without Lilly. Down to one marginal major league starter in Dempster. It all comes down to the season series with the Pirates, if the Cubs can win 12 or 13 against them that could keep them out of last place. Go Cubs!
