GLENDALE, Ariz. - Rick Hahn has been considered for several general managerial openings, and his credentials were recognized by one major baseball publication.
Baseball America magazine has selected Hahn as Major League Baseball's top assistant GM, two sources confirmed. Hahn is entering his 10th season with the White Sox and has been credited with giving the organization cost certainty with multi-year deals to several players.
Hahn has interviewed for GM openings in St. Louis and Pittsburgh in recent years but later withdrew from consideration. Seattle also was denied permission to interview Hahn for its GM opening after the 2008 season, fueling speculation that he would take over if Ken Williams is promoted to team president in the future.
