Rex Grossman has found a new home.
The former Bears quarterback has signed a one-year with the Washington Redskins, according to the Redskins' Web site.
Grossman played with the Houston Texans last season and will be reunited with Kyle Shanahan, who was with the Texans last season and is now the Redskins' offensive coordinator under his father, Mike.
Grossman has his best year in 2006, when he helped the Bears to the Super Bowl by completing 262 of his 480 passes for 3,193 yards and 23 touchdowns with 20 interceptions. But it all went downhill after that as Grossman struggled the next two seasons, losing his starting job to both Brian Griese and Kyle Orton.
Grossman suffered a partially torn MCL in a game at Washington during the 2007 season. He figures to back up Jason Campbell, unless the Redskins go another direction at quarterback.
And although dates won't be set until April, yes, the Redskins visit Soldier Field next season.

Hilarious, but not for the easily offended - or those with Sexy Rexy Man-Crushes....
Rex:
1) Can't read a defense (sometimes I wonder if he can read at all - based on his interviews, the guy can barely put together a sentence);
2) Extremely poor decision making (see above);
3) Had a better running game than Cutler (Thomas Jones);
4) Had a better Offensive Line:
5) Had better receivers (Muhsin Muhammed, Marty Booker, Bernard Berrian):
6) Had a MUCH better defense;
7) Was injury prone (Cutler took a BEATING last year and didn't miss a game - barley missed a snap);
8) POUTED when told he had to compete for the job like every other player on the team, showing poor leadership and that he wasn't a team player (really mature);
and was DUMB enough to say that the reason the Bears lost the last game of the season was because he was "thinking about New Years Eve." WHAT? No matter how much you may hate Cutler, there is no way he would be dumb enough to make such an asinine statement. I can't think of any other NFL QB who would say something so stupid.
The fact is Rex doesn't have the IQ or maturity to be a successful starting QB in the NFL. Florida ain't exactly a genius factory. As stated before, Vanderbilt is one the best academic schools in the US, on a par with Northwestern. Cutler couldn't be an idiot and graduate from there.
Rex is a rich kind who has been coddled and handled with kid gloves his whole life. His true colors finally came out when he had to handle adversity for the first time. And he didn't handle it well.
All things considered, I'll take my chances with Cutler any day of the week over Rex. If he doesn't stick in DC, his career in the NFL will probably be over. It's not like he didn't have his chances.
BML,
You still haven't answered the question. How many teams has Jay Culter ever played on that have winning records?

Bea you are a prime example of why the old saying "you can't argue with the stupid" is so true.
Read the next few lines I posted before and if after reading them you still think your point is valid or has any intelligence to it your just an idiot.
"So there really is an "I" in team. I mean how could you ever consider football to be a team sport?
One guy has to block, catch, run, play defense, play special teams, call the plays, and coach."
-----------------------------------------------------------
So Jay Cutler being on teams that don't win is all his fault? I mean that was pretty much the point you just attempted to make wasn't it?
How about the teams he was one were bad? I don't know just a thought.
Will someone just make all these idiots go away? You guys are dense and small minded.
Go root for the Packers or something.

Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl. Was he bad?
Abe you're an idiot. Stop pretending you know anything.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Believe me, no one has ever thought about Jay Cutler winning a Super Bowl, how about him just once having a winning record.
How many times did Marino's teams have winning records?
How many times has a Cutler team had a winning record? I'll even throw in college for you with Cutler, now how many more winning seasons does that add?
In 16 seasons,
Marino teams 15 winning records, 1 losing record.
Jay Cutler is still at how many Bozo?
"Abe Gibron on March 17, 2010 2:35 PM

Who was the greater QB,
Jay Cutler or Ryan Leaf?

Well said Creighton. Finally someone who can think outside the box and give rational reasoning. I knew there were more than a couple of us. :-)
People are pining for Grossman, really? He's terrible, Houston didn't even want him as a backup and I think Dan Orlovsky is still on the stinking team. Do these people watch the games or just memorize stat lines? He had a better offense at almost every position and still ruined it.
The only point in his defense is that we all know that Ron Turner sucked, but he didn't make Grossman inaccurate and wussy.
"Jim V on March 17, 2010 1:23 PM
I'll bet that most of the "Cutler Clowns" are the same ones who think wearing their Zuba's and Urlacher jerseys is cool.
Face it Bears fans, we will always have an embarrassing sect of the fan base that will embarrass us, now it's the Cutler Clowns turn and we just have to accept it.
Just support the team, and continue to ignore and laugh at these ones, they aren't going away."
You are the embarrassment. You can't come up with a reason why you say your QB is bad other than "he is not a good QB." If you ask me the embarrassment is you and your apparent lack of any knowledge or ability to come up with any rational reasons why you think Cutler is bad. Come up with better reasoning as to why you don't think Jay Cutler is a good QB other than "he is not a good QB" you small minded fool!
Wow the Cutler idiots who know nothing about football are out in force with claims of fire and passion being what wins football games. News flash talent wins end of story. Winning attitude? If Orton had such a winning attitude and fire and passion what happened to him last year and the year before? No playoffs, but he had the fire and the passion.
Brett Favre has thrown an equal number or more int's to TD's in 5 nfl seasons. But is a lock for the hall of fame, anyone see his last play for the Vikings last year?
Manning has thrown more picks than td's in one nfl season.
Warren Moon did 6 times. Hall of Fame
Joe Montana did it once.
John Elway did it 5 times.
All of them have multiple loosing seasons, and all of them where on better teams than Cutler.
Do you have any idea how stupid most of you sound. "If Cutler was good he would win a super bowl every year" "Good QB's never have loosing seasons" 'Fire and Passion wins games"
STFU, buch of computer dorks that probably don't watch much football and have no idea of nfl history. You all think if you clap real hard your team will win. Its about talent and Cutler has more talent than all the Bears QB's of the last 20 years combined.
You think he is stupid? He went to Vanderbilt and got his degree. Let me guess all the Cutler haters went to Harvard and got PHD's in 3 weeks.
He is a high risk high reward type of player, thats all their is to it. He has to be, he has little to no talent around him. Oh before any of you start spare me the Wolfe is super talented and Hester, and Olsen garbage. The line sucks the RB is average at best and all his recievers have little to no nfl game experience starting the season. What did you expect? The defense sucks to. Yet you think one guy will get you a Super Bowl. Orton was on a much better team and they had one of the worst breakdowns in team history, actually NFL history. Oh and his fire and passion allowed him to throw three picks and two pick 6's while the season was on the line. So much for his winning attitude.
Jim V -Don't forget the Ditka moustaches and McMahon's spiky hair. Half of them have McMichael's crater face but, hey, that's out of their control...
Geeesshh! I don't know where to start.
A whole season has been forgotten by those who have any sort of positive impression from Jay Cutler. He ran in the wrong direction, threw over his shoulder to avoid being touched, even though he was only 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage AND DID IT ALL SEASON, while the coaching (sic) staff allowed a QB with a winning attitude and brains sit on the bench.
Did last season really not happen?
I'll bet that most of the "Cutler Clowns" are the same ones who think wearing their Zuba's and Urlacher jerseys is cool.

You guys are nuts, if Cutler was smart he would be the best QB in football, it's not his fault that isn't very smart. It's the coaches job to make sure they get the most out of him, if he's not smart enough to read defenses, then the coaches should put in plays he is able to understand.
You guys are blaming the wrong person, Jay rocks.
Once again proving that Chi fans, while passionate, are brutal to QBs... But let me add two things to the conversation that everyone's neglecting. 1 - the line is beyond awful. I'd say WIlliams, Garza, and Schaffer would be the only ones that would be on another team's roster. Worst of the bunch is that big load Kreutz. Granted he may be better after surgery, but he's been pushed around easily the last few years. (And I know I'm going to hear it from a lot of the "Old School Bear Football" guys who think he fits the tough guy mold that we haven't had since that 85 team... ) Put a good line on the team and "Jethro" is in Pro Bowl. 2 - we need the Honey Bears back. Give us something to look at besides our QBs running for their lives...

Or they can't come up with anything better than "he's not a good QB."
"a bottomfeeding between the twenties QB"
LoL. Yeah, OK.
So there really is an "I" in team. I mean how could you ever consider football to be a team sport?
One guy has to block, catch, run, play defense, play special teams, call the plays, and coach...well according to the brilliant mind of TMT.
All I can say is wow.
If that's what you think then more power to you.

The old saying "you can't argue with the stupid" couldn't be more true.
Why can't people that say Cutler is a bad QB actually think up some real arguments other than "he's not a good QB."
I mean how small minded can you be?
Cutler always has been a bottomfeeding between the twenties QB that only fools the football illiterates with garbage stats.
Look at the records that matter, every team Jethro Cutler has ever played on, in college or pro's, can't finish a season above 500 and sits home during the playoffs.
There are no excuses. There are, however, facts like Cutler's stats that show he had the best and second best numbers in most QB statistical categories in Bears franchise history. How can you sit and argue fact retard?
You don't actually think Grossman is a better QB than Cutler do you? Wow.
What is the one thing every Jay Cutler fan has to have every year he has ever played? Answer, their excuses ready for why the brainless QB's team will not be playing in the off season.
Do you guys already have next years excuses ready?
I have to laugh at the clowns who still think Jay Cutler is any good at QB, these have to be the same people who keep voting in the Rod Blagojevich's of the world.

Grossman was one of the most solid QB's we've had since Erik Kramer.
Cutler is currently about the same as McNown or Mirer."
Are you kidding me? Holy cow! Cutler had the second highest stats in Bears history for one season! More Touchdowns, more yards, more completions, higher completion percentage, and higher QB rating than Rex had in any of his seasons ever. If you would take Rex over Cutler there is seriously something wrong. If your only argument is interceptions then you are not worth arguing with.
Bill, you're an idiot.
The one thing Grossman had that was better than Cutler was his O-Line in 2006.
You are probably one of those idiots who had the fire Lovie billboard. I can't believe those idiots actually thought that billboard would do anything except for making themselves look retarded.
The guy has some defincincies, but did not come close to deserving the bashing he took, both locally and nationally.
Here's what I posted on another board... Sorry if this hits home too hard on some of you Jay/Rex/Kyle bashers...
I'm from Chicago and this guy is WAY better than his reputation. Tho not as bad as Philly, Chicago's BRUTAL towards QBs. If you read message boards now, Cutler is the second coming of Ryan Leaf. Rex has a cannon for an arm and a really fast release. Can make any throw on the field. He single-handedly beat Seattle in playoffs so, yes, he did lead them to SB. Hooking up with Shanahan will be good. Until Snyder fires him...
Grossman was one of the most solid QB's we've had since Erik Kramer.
Cutler is currently about the same as McNown or Mirer.
Good luck Rex! Hope you get a chance to start. Win the starting job with Washington so I can root for you when you take them to the playoffs!
Still waiting for Grossman to accomplish anything in the NFL.
Even that SB appearance tarnished his image.
Rex did enough to win games, Cutler does more than enough to lose em. Common denominator Ron Turner. Maybe if we had Martz two years ago we would have a pro bowl QB and draft picks. Come on Martz get Cutler's head straight so we can look forward and not in reverse for a change.
AMEN, Felix.
More painful memories: Trace Armstrong, Jim Harbaugh, Doug Flutie . . . .
If you could just take Grossman's brain and put it the spot where Cutler is supposed to have a brain, we might just have a QB worth keeping.
JD on March 17, 2010 9:54 AM
We would have been much better off with Rex and the draft picks than we are with Jethro Cutler and our picks playing in Denver.
____________________________
Although Cutler will probably end up being better, I can't argue with your point. Losing those draft picks was a huge mistake by the Bears.
Good luck Wrecks, I can't wait until you're run outta DC too. You're a little girl in a man's domain.
Some more for Felix: Or Chris Harris, Justin Gage, Mike Brown, Bobby Wade, Rosevelt Colvin, Warrick Holdman, Tank Johnson
you guys are stupid!
There is no way Rex could have been successful in chicago. He needed to be coached up. And that was not going to happen in chicago. 8n7d3j
I am now a Redskins fan. Good luck Rex.
Go Bears!
GOOD LUCK REX. Here's one Bears fan that hopes you can find success elsewhere in the NFL. Like Ced. Or T Jones, or Mike Gandy, or Lousaka Polite, or Bobby Engram, or Colombo, or Walt Harris, or Curtis Conway, or Tony Parrish, or . . . . . . .
We would have been much better off with Rex and the draft picks than we are with Jethro Cutler and our picks playing in Denver.
go get em Rex,
Everyone around here hates this guy..But he did do the impossible and take the bears to the Super Bowl.
He's still *bitter* than Cutler
