Could Bears help Giants open new stadium?

The NFL resolved one of its biggest scheduling squabbles Monday when it announced that the New York Giants and New York Jets will open at home on the same weekend in the new Northern New Jersey football complex.

The Jets had been raising a stink about wanting to get first dibs in the building the organizations will share, and the league ruled the Giants will get the opener on a Sunday and the Jets will follow with a "Monday Night Football" appearance the next day.

Details of the full schedule will not be released until early to mid-April. But the NFL is expected to announce the prime-time lineup for Week , as well as the Thanksgiving Day games, next week from the owners meeting in Orlando, Fla.

How does this impact the Bears? Well, the Bears travel to New York to face the Giants this season, so they have a 1-in-8 chance of being the opponent for the grand opening of the stadium. However, it wouldn't be surprising if the NFL paired the Giants with a traditional NFC East rival for that game. The Jets travel to face the Bears during the season.
One rumor making the rounds is that the Bears could be headed north of the border for a regular-season game. They have a road game scheduled at Buffalo and the Bills, for the third consecutive season, will be playing a home game in Toronto. It will mark their first road game with the Bills since 2002.

What are the chances of the Bears landing in that game? Well, you have to figure it's at least 1-in-6 because the NFL is unlikely to reschedule Miami or the New York Jets for the trip. Miami played in Toronto in 2008 and the Jets were there last season. The Bills have struggled to sell tickets for games at the Rogers Centre and the Bears probably would help fill the stands.

Here are the Bills' home opponents for 2010: Bears, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, New England, New York Jets and Miami.

Again, it's unlikely the Jets or Dolphins would return so quickly for a game in Toronto. If the league is looking to sell tickets for the game, the Steelers, Bears and Patriots are obvious choices. The Bills have played the Toronto game in December in order to not interfere with the CFL season.

Here are the Bears' opponents for the coming season:

Home: Philadelphia, Washington, New England, New York Jets, Seattle, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota.

Away: Dallas, New York Giants, Buffalo, Miami, Carolina, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota.

Why is there no talk on the Bears getting a home game for the season opener? In the last 10 years I think they have opened the season at home only twice. Screw the Giants home game, I want to see our team start at home this year.

Creighton do you know the stats on our team starting season at home the last 10 years, thanks.

Giants vs Cowboys. Book it. Giants opened Jerry World and it will be reciprocated.

I Think Peppers is gonna Wreak Havoc in the Division... Rodgers,Farve, and Stafford will have their hands full along with Brady, Mcnabb, Eli, Sanchez, etc... But how will our Oline hold up? Whos gonna step up for Safety? Are we gonna Draft a younger O-line and Free-Safety Play Maker? Big Moves and Career riding on the dividends from the aquisitions... I Always Hope for the Best... But Lovie and Co. Have to Make it Deep(NFC Championship) to Keep their Job. Just my Opinion...

Packers resigned Tauscher and Clifton this offseason, can't wait fir them to meet Peppers, those two guys have no knees and are so washed up, Rodgers is going to get buried.

Why don't they play each other on Monday night? That would have solved both their claims of opening the building.

Bears at home against New England can't wait for that one. Can't wait to see Briggs and Urlacher drive Pretty Boy Brady into the grass.
