John Madden scored to give the Blackhawks a 3-0 lead over the Capitals after two periods Sunday at the United Center.

Jonathan Toews has the Hawks' other two scores and Antti Niemi has been solid in goal with 18 saves.

Capitals star winger Alex Ovechkin was tossed from the game after receiving a game misconduct for boarding Hawks defenseman Brian Campbell during the first period. Campbell slammed his shoulder into the boards and will not return to the game.
