A repentant Tiger Woods pledged "a life of amends" during an interview that aired on ESPN Sunday night.

Woods admitted: "I've done some pretty bad things."

In an interview on the Golf Channel that aired at the same time, Kelly Tilghman asked Woods why he could not control his behavior.

"I don't know," he replied. "Now I know. But at the time that's a part of what I learned in treatment. Being in for 45 days ... the truth is very painful at times and to stare at yourself and look at the person you've become, you become disgusted."

Woods declined to offer details about the Nov. 27 crash that was the tipping point for a public sex scandal.

He told both networks that the report is already a matter of public record but did also tell Golf Channel: "I wasn't going very fast but unfortunately, you know, I hit a few things."

Here's the Golf Channel interview.

Woods announced on Tuesday that he'll return live completion at the Masters, which begins April 8.

Woods' only smile during the ESPN interview came after he was asked what kind of reception he expects to receive at Augusta National.

"I don't know," he said. "I don't know. I'm a little nervous about that to be honest with you...It would be nice to hear a couple claps here and there...but also hope they clap for birdies too (laughs)."

As always, Woods maintained a level of control regarding the interviews. Although no restrictions were put on the questions, Woods limited the ESPN interview to five minutes and told the network it had to be held until 6:30 p.m.

Woods' public apology on Feb. 19 lasted 13 ½ minutes.

i wish they would leave the gentleman alone as well. it seems the topic of him offends those who've not done any unthinkable, regretable or shameful things. on another note-much has been made of tiger's transgressions but ive heard almost nothing of the trashy females who knowingly consorted with the married man. why no public outcry directed at them ? it seems only one side of this unfortunate matter is being raked over the coals. one poster mentioned that at least he's no dog torturer and killer. yup, and he's no bribe-taking game-fixing NBA referee either.

I never knew that going into "Treatment" for 45 days could bring you out of a perverse lifestyle that lasted the better part of an entire decade!
"As always, Woods maintained a level of control regarding the interviews" . . . wow!, what a surprise!
It was an insult for everybody watching to hear a scripted, softball interview ..... all laid out by Woods' camp, of course.

Watching golf these lasr few weeks without Woods has been a real pleasure. There are many young players who are overlooked when Woods is playing. For the most part they unlike Woods are real gentlemen on the course and fan friendly.

Guys like Palmer,Player and Chi-Chi were all gentlemen and an assest to the game. Woods may have the talent but his attitude towards the game and its fans is a major distraction

Is it really any of our business?

The man seemed sincere and honest with himself. He also seemed a bit medicated, possibly anti-depressants and/or anti-anxiety meds. Good Luck Tiger.

Woods giving an interview. I wish the media would just ignore that immoral, self absorbed jerk!

You know he'll hear a few claps--most likely big cheers. Sports fans always forgive the big stars. Nothing matters more in this country than sports. Unfortunately.

I don't care what Woods does. All I want is info on how to have numerous affairs going while still being married. I want to learn from Woods mistakes.

All these reporters are gutless. Ask Woods the tough questions, or don't bother interviewing him. These celebrities just use the media to get whatever messages that they want to get out; these reporters/interviewers need to insist that people either answer the question, or, the "self-advertisement" is over.

Tiger Woods has problems but he's not a violent sociopath and serial dog torturer and killer like Michael Vick.

Wasn't Kelly Tilghman the one who misspoke about a "lynching" RE: Woods?

Must be a precondition of the interview that ESPN not promote it otherwise they would be banging the drums pretty loudly by now...have not seen/heard a word and have it on now. The Lead on crawl is NCAA results.

Tom Rinaldi is ESPN's idea of a "serious journalist.''
