Tyrus Thomas returned to Bulls practice at the Berto Center on Monday after serving a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, but declined to comment afterward.
Thomas missed Saturday's victory over the Heat after being disciplined for a verbal tirade against coach Vinny Del Negro in Atlanta last Friday.
"We have to move on," Del Negro said. "What happened happened. It's over with. Hopefully, Tyrus learns from it and gets better. It's not the first thing that's happened with Tyrus. He has to be smarter. He has to be committed to the team."
Thomas has played less than 16 minutes in the last three games and has been frustrated with his playing time.

My goodnes, no, Chad, I won't miss him when he is gone. Let's look at the seriessince you really want to go there as an example of how Thomas made that series "close" - your words not mine.
In the first 5 games of the series the Bulls were down 3-2 - that's a close series and in those 5 games Thomas had 3 DNPs. The two games he played on he was ineffective scoring a total of 7 points. So, going into the pivotal game 6 Tyrus Thomas was a virtual no show and yet the Bulls were hanging close. How do you explain that?
Game 6 of that series, the triple OT thriller - we get another DNP for Tyrus Thomas.
In the Game 7 loss, the series clincher - the type of game situation you lamented he was never given an opportunity to shine in, he actually started and played 17 crap minutes in a loss. 4 points.
Now please, try again in your defense of this clown. Your comment needs to be printed again so we can all try and grasp your logic and assertions :"That bulls/celtics series would have never been that close with gibson instead of tyrus because tyrus is a difference maker."
The series was close because the Bulls played WITHOUT him when it counted most. Gordon and Rose stepped it up in that series and the rest of the team played their roles to the hilt. That's why it was so close. Tyrus Thomas was a no show. Your argument holds no merit.
As for your other argument that it is the coaches fault - let's see - there have been at least 3 coaches during the Thomas debacle so I must assume that every coach , every long time assistant, every professional caliber basketball mind is to blame for his loss but not him. Not the one guy that is a part of every noted problem. Wake up, man, he IS the problem.
You people are forgetting that he's playing for a coach that would rather teach him lessons then give him the chance to prove himself. Your forgetting that tyrus isn't the only one to cuss his coach out and show that he doesn't get along with him (Noah, Gordon, Hinrich-who is now starting because Del Negro finally realized he needs to). You want a player to be smarter on the court? How can he do that with out ample playing time. How can he do that with out being in the situations you want him to be good at. That bulls/celtics series would have never been that close with gibson instead of tyrus because tyrus is a difference maker.
All you bulls fans will miss him when al horford or Kendrick Perkins bullies Gibson and Miller around in the playoffs.
Worry about cutler, who complains and pouts but doesn't have the skills to back it up.
Hi Chicago's Finest:
I see where you are coming from but I don't necessarily agree with your findings. He was given time to get better - remember, he's been here for 4 years - and he is not valuable playing the way he does. The Bulls have worked with Tyrus after every season. He has a very soft game, reminiscent of Brad Sellers, and his jump shot is not reliable. He had a couple decent shooting nights but with him it's succeed in one category fail in the rest. But, my biggest gripe is that after 4 years of working with the Bulls during the off-season he has learned no offensive post moves aside from jump and dunk. I don't like the attitude he displays and I will readily admit that that is half the reason I want him gone. He is selfish, arrogant, and not good enough for the rest of us to have to look away. Some fans even point to him putting in a winning basket in the Celtics series but refuse to acknowledge how he was hopelessly lost on nearly every defensive trip. He was a detriment on both ends and even when he does give you a good effort it only lasts for a game - two at best. In the end I acknowledge I am only a fan but I really want this guy gone in a bad way. I don't think more Pt will help anyone but his ego. At this point in the Thomas experiment I want wins and tangible evidence that his presence helps get those wins - I no longer am concerned with his mental stability or his emotional volatility. We have invested too much time in him and gotten squat in return except angst about PT and the number of shots he gets in game else he pouts. Boo hoo. Time to grow up - be professional, get better and the money and respect will come rolling in.
Hey Benny, I agree on some of the points you made, but Tyrus has worked hard on his jumper this past offseason and it showed early in the season. We all know in order to continue improving you need consistant minutes, you know reputition is the mother of all skills. It's not Tyrus's fault we drafted him so young and knew he was not NBA ready, but it's the BUlls orginization fault for giving up on players instead of finding Coaches/Players to help develope our young. We brought in Ben Wallace to help with our youngs early on and even Wallace says he wants no part of being a team leader nor roll a model.
I am unsure what you're watching "Chicago's Finest" because I have watched him suck for the past 4 years. How much longer do we have to wait for him to mature emotionally, develop a jump shot, learn to dribble, or provide a little help defense once in a while? He does none of those things. He is a selfish player with incredibly limited basketball ability. He has shown no desire to better his game and his post moves are a joke. You can sum up his skills in this way: he can jump - he can dunk - and he sometimes blocks a shot - that's it. He could hustle a little to earn some more PT but he never does. He's the epitome of what is wrong with the NBA. I don't want him on this team any longer. He is an albatross. I am a Bulls fan and I approve this message.
I feel for Tyrus Thomas, he deserved to be treated like a pro...Don't lose your starting position due to injury. Plus he is a MUCH BETTER PLAYER then Gibson who gets man handled anytime we play against other power forwards. Tyrus has all these people saying he is a bust but was never given the chance to excell, yea Aldridge numbers are a lot better but so is his coach, Patrick Ewing and he's been given the time to learn from his mistakes instead of being benched when he makes a mistake. If you made a mistake at work and was sent home everytime you did would you want to work for your leader? No one's perfect!!
Tyrus can jump out of the gym, but needs to grow up. The Brits have a great phrase for adult temper tantrums: "Throwing toys from the pram."
Couldn't have said it better myself, Jeff in Stockton, CA....LOL
Tyrus Thomas? Tyrus Thomas? We are tired of you, Tyrus. We had hoped you'd grow a brain but it's apparent you never will. What a moron. I'd trade you for the crumbs on the bottom of a potato chip bag. Get lost, loser.
Tyrus Thomas = Stromile Swift
Marcus Fizer-esque bust.
