The Bears rewarded running back Thomas Jones for helping them reach Super Bowl XLI by promptly trading the veteran to the New York Jets in 2007. Now it appears Jones again will be shown no appreciation for a job well done.
According to a report in the Newark Star-Ledger, Jones could be on his way out of the Big Apple despite rushing for 1,402 and 14 touchdowns last season (both career-highs).
Jones is due a $3 million roster bonus next month in addition to a $2.8 million base salary in 2010. The Jets want him to renegotiate his contract or they likely will release him and rely on Shonn Greene, the rookie from Iowa who came on late last season.

If I was in Jones' position, I'd tell NY exactly where and how far to shove their ultimatum. And if Angelo subsequently reached out, I'd do the same thing.
We the fans all miss you TJ!
He's not been cut 3 or 4 times now because he's great, guys. His locker room presence is missed and could be used, but the idea he's going to rush for a lot more than Forte is mistaken. What the Bears did lose was somebody who worked harder than anybody else and demanded others do the same.
During the Jets final playoff game, you could see T Jones not hitting the hole hard, just like he didn't in chicago. He'll bust some huge cut-back runs, but he never was the guy to stick his nose in the hole. That's just the truth. He got so many yards because the Jets have one of the best O-lines in the entire league and ran a TON.
Thomas Jones is a stud!! He takes a lickin and keeps on tickin. Give the man what he has earned and deserves.
Why in the hell would TJ want to come back to Chicago after how Angelo and Lovie treated him?
Thomas Jones is a work horse! He has a wonderful work ethic, and he's is in wonderful physical condition. He did a great job in Chicago & New York. I wish more players had his attitude. It was an ENORMOUS mistake letting him go. I wish him well wherever he goes. He was the only one on our team besides Devin Hester who performed well in that Superbowl game against the Colts. He never gives up. He's a great player.
Yah. This is a no-brainer. We lost a leader on the team when he got let go. He was a Chicago Bear....through and through. Id love to see a reunion. He was 32 and ran for 1,400 yards. Good goal line RB and was good on screens too. Bring Jones back if he gets cut....it would be worth it. Forte isnt Benson. Benson had an ego and didnt work well with others, Forte would work with Jones. Lets do it! Tho, dunno if it would actually happen.
Go Bears.
Bring Thomas Jones back here?
No..
The Bears brought back Marty Booker and what that that did for the Bears?
People think before making knee-jerk statements. Look at Jones? He is 32 years old and comming off a 1,400 yard season. Do you peopel really think that at 33 years old he will be able to do that again? Think people think!
No..
I would say the Bears should be a favorite to land Thomas Jones once he gets cut. He is 32 but coming off a 1400 yard season and he doesn't have the mileage that Westbrook and LT have. But a certain GM commented to the media that Jones' holdout from OTA's last year was "crap". I wonder who that was. Angelo can be a real idiot he traded Jones and got nothing in return now the guy could come back and be in a successful platoon with Forte but instead he won't want to come here because of how Angelo dogged him even after he was gone. All the guy did was bleed blue and orange for us and this is how he treats him. Bring him back and I can proudly wear my #20 jersey again.
i'd love for him to be back in Chicago....it was a HUGE mistake to let him go.
why do the bears release the good players, and try to sign one-year wonders or has-beens to big contracts?
Bring him back here!
The guy gives 100% all the time. It is a shame he is being tossed aside again after being a hard worker and more productive than a lot of backs in the NFL.
BRING HIM BACK TO CHICAGO
