The 11th-hour offer was one Austin Teitsma couldn't pass up.
Teitsma, a Glenbard South defensive lineman, received and accepted a scholarship offer from Illinois on a visit to Champaign over the weekend and will officially become an Illini on national signing day Wednesday.

"They have been recruiting him since the end of his sophomore year,"
Glenbard South coach Dan Starkey said. "They offered him a little late,
but he's glad they did. I think as recruiting went on it became more
evident he was one of top defensive linemen in the state. He is one of
strongest kids I've ever seen in high school. They're going to bulk him
up and turn him into a great defensive lineman."
Teitsma, a three-sport athlete who played both defensive end and nose guard, also had offers from Northern Illinois, Ball State, Central Michigan and Eastern Illinois and Illinois State.
He is the 18th member of Illinois' incoming class. Three prospects -- Downers Grove South quarterback Chandler Whitmer, Niles West offensive lineman Shawn Afryl and junior college transfer Trulon Henry - are already enrolled in school.
