Former St. Joseph teammates Demetri McCamey of Illinois and Evan Turner of Ohio State shared Big Ten Player of the Week honors for the period from Feb. 1-7, the conference said Monday. This is the eighth such award of Turner's career, surpassing the seven by Glenn Robinson (Purdue) and Jim Jackson (Ohio State).
McCamey led the Illini to two victories, scoring 15 points with a game-high seven assists at Iowa and 22 points and a career-high-tying 11 assists in a big victory Saturday over No. 5 Michigan State. Turner averaged 29.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals in a pair of home wins last week.
