Zach Parise scored with 20 seconds left in the third period to tie it up at 2-2. Jamie Langenbrunner gets puck from behind net to Patrick Kane, who shoots and Parise knocks in rebound.

Parise's goal sent the game into a 20-minute, sudden-death overtime with teams playing 4-on-4. A shootout would follow if it remained tied. The shots were also tied at 32 going into overtime.

The Hawks' Kane had two assists going into overtime, making him the only player with two points in regulation.

In the first minute of the third period, Canada's Jonathan Toews stole puck behind net, got it back to Shea Weber, who hit the post.

A minute later, Canada's Chris Pronger hit the other post, underscoring why the iron can be a goalie's best friend.

U.S. goalie Ryan Miller came up big on Corey Perry's close-in shot with 15:49 to play. Perry scored in the second period.

Patrick Kane's turnover with 10:20 to go led to a great chance for Dany Heatley that Miller flashed a pad to stop.

Damn it, America lost to the Canadians, AGAIN !
Keep trying boys, one day you may get used to 2nd place, lol, again.

The U.S. may have lost the game, but they won every American kids heart by their play in this tournament, and i couldn't be more proud of them. They did more for the game of hockey in America than any team since the Miracle on Ice team of 1980.

I am a Canadian and a Hawks fan. I enjoyed the game today and I felt both teams were great and the Hawks players on both were outstanding. The USA showed no quit and gave Canada all they could handle. Special mention for sure to Ryan Miller for being the best goalie in the tournament. Back to the real season on Tuesday GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!

What this tournament showed is that Canada is no longer significantly more talented then the US. US proved they can play and beat Canada and that Canada was fortunate to live up to their unbearable hype. US was clearly the best "TEAM" in the tournament, and as an American I can't wait to see how US will do in 4 years.

Best part of it all, all the Hawks who played significant roles played well and are returning to Chicago healthy.

A good game.

KPOM, your comment is beyond moronic. Oh, congrats on the overtime win. I'm sure you feel better about yourself. The final score for the Olympics was U.S. 7, Canada 6. Choke on that.

nothing better than 2 North AMerican teams playing for gold in hockey! Ecstatic thatTeam Canada won, but man the American team was GREAT! Hopefully this rivalry continues to build ... will make for epic battles in the future.

Good job Toews, Keith and Seabrook. Heck of a game. Hopefully these Hawks along with Kane bring home Lord's Stanley's Cup.

Thank God the Hawks didn't make a trade for Scott Nedermeyer - how old does that guy look? Great game - and thankfully the pros are done with the Olympics - leave it to the amatueurs, not the millionaires.

Sidenote - loved the "Derek Lutz" last night with the air-horn at the Curling match Norway/Canada!! That's the new sport baby - anything you can do while chugging a beer....and you win a medal for it? Awesome!

Your beer still su c k s!
Fantastic game though.

the u.s,a. did,nt choke. if you look at it the canada players all play for us teams, so the gold metals come back to the u.s.a. anyhow.

First I want to say I am a Canadian, second I want to know why if two Alpine skiers come down the hill with equal time, if two speed skaters cross the line dead even and they both get gold then why when the game finished tied did both teams not get gold? I have never seen a team play with more heart than the US and they deserved Gold just as much as the Canadians, sorry but that is the way I feel.

Well that sucked on February 28, 2010 6:01 PM

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CANADA BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Great, the country with real health care, an unobscene military budget, and a solid economy won. Maybe it's Canadian exceptionalism after all!

You obviously know very little about Canada, no Canadian would agree with what you said.

But great job by both teams. Congrats to the US players on the play and the silver, it was well earned.

Very proud of the Americans. They were initially not even on the medal radar. A silver earned in OT, and being their only loss, is a gold medal in my book. They should hold their heads high. Congrats to Ryan Miller. Best goalie in the Olympics.

Congrats to all the Blackhawks who won medals now go bring Lord Stanley's Cup back to Chicago that would be so sweet.

At least we made them work for it.

Great hockey tourney. Story book ending. USA fans should be proud of their team and Silver medal. I knew it was a long shot for them to get to the medal round but they played as a team, they played with heart, they never quit, and they played with the American spirit. In the end, a few mistakes lead to easy goals for Canada but it was meant to be. An extremely talented team playing on home ice had to win this tourney, and they found a way to win. Hats off to the Canadians. Anyone who thinks aotherwise, well... see KPOM's hockey uneducated comment.

I would hardly call coming back from a 2 - 0 deficit a choke.

A great game decided by great plays.

And it's nice to see Canadians are as classless in victory as they are in defeat, EH!

Canada had the last laugh, JO. Team USA choked when it mattered most.

You must have been watching another game if you're stupid enough to think the U.S. choked. The U.S. never quit and to tie the game with less than 30 seconds left was fantastic and in overtime it can go either way.

U.S. ..... no W-EH!!!

At least of couple of the guys on the Hawks will be champions of something this year.

What a gut effort by the US squad. I'm proud of them. That tying goal shut that stupid crowd up right quick. That was the highlight of the game.

Kane, Toews and Keith all stepped up. Hope it carries over.

As an American I'm disappointed the U.S. comes up short but as a Blackhawks fan I'm very happy, Great job guys.

thrilling game! both teams played great!

HUGE props to WGN for carrying this on the radio...........wooohoo
