Could Sox anchor new FM sports-talk station?

Crain's Chicago Business reports: Sources say the White Sox are a key figure in discussions about adding a third sports-talk radio station to Chicago's lineup, this one on the FM dial. The Sox are entering the final year of their deal with WSCR-AM 670.

Ratings for WSCR and WMVP-AM 1000 are booming and there are other major markets with multiple sports-talk outlets, with some of them migrating to FM.

Bring back Jiggs!

Probably not going to be the exclusive home of the Sox on FM.

Also, Mike North is done. Infomercials get more ratings than the current train wreck on CBS-2 in the morning!

And if a 3rd station did launch, please keep Mike North as far away from it as possible! The best thing that happened to the Score was dumping that blowhard and moving Mully & Hanley to the mornings.

I read a few weeks back that the Score may start broadcasting on FM (on 105.9) soon, rather than a 3rd sports talk outlet. That makes more sense to me, espcially with the ratings the Score has been enjoying.

Maybe they can get jobs for North and his gang (Freddie, Jen, Jesse, George, Jiggs, Chet, etc.). North and Jiggs will be out of their current gig at CBS2 in a few months.

The Cubs could take this suggestion, and then Murph, Sirott, Bruce Wolf, and Blagojevich could also have a job, unless the latter becomes suddenly unavailable.

Obviously, any such station would have to fill the 18 hours a day during the summer when there is no game, and the 24 hours in the winter. Sporting News Radio proved that using them in this market doesn't work as filler.
