Indianapolis Colts All-Pro defensive end Dwight Freeney is in pain, but still hopes to play in Sunday's Super Bowl against the New Orleans Saints.

Freeney tore a ligament in his right ankle in the AFC championship game nine days ago. He said at Tuesday's media day in South Florida that it's "very discouraging" that he can't practice. He says a decision on his playing status won't come until the end of the week, but chances of him practicing are not good.

Freeney is the only starter on the Colts or Saints who might miss the game because of an injury. He led the Colts with 13 sacks.
