While the Bears' search for a defensive coordinator continues, the Buffalo Bills have hired one away from a national college football power.

George Edwards abruptly left Florida on Thursday to become the Bills' new defensive coordinator, only 27 days after he had been hired to the same job under Gators coach Urban Meyer.

Edwards becomes the latest addition to a staff assembled by Bills coach Chan Gailey, who took over two weeks ago.

Gailey was the Dallas Cowboys head coach in 1998 when he hired Edwards as a linebackers coach. Edwards has 19 years of coaching experience, including the past 12 in the NFL. He spent the past five years as a linebackers coach with the Dolphins.
