INDIANAPOLIS -- Jerry Angelo understands the speculation that Tim Ruskell will be added to the Bears front office -- and soon.
But he insists no decision has been made even if league insiders say it's only a matter of time. It could be that Angelo is angling to get the best deal possible for the former Seattle Seahawks general manager. The men worked together in the front office of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 14 seasons.
"I'll address it at the right time. Tim Ruskell, he's a professional friend," Angelo said. "I worked with him for many years in Tampa, so that obviously is going to be a logical connection. He's unemployed. When the time comes, we'll announce what we're going to do."

It's expected that Ruskell will be named the director of player
personnel, a position the Bears previously haven't had. He would be
directly under Angelo with pro and college personnel bosses under
Ruskell. It's the same organizational chart that was in Tampa when
Angelo and Ruskell were there.
"Again, when the time comes, I'll let you know. I just have some thoughts in mind," Angelo said. "I said at the end of the year, we evolve. You have to evolve. Rarely does anything stay the same. Your roster doesn't stay the same. Your coaching staff doesn't stay the same. Obviously, our side of it doesn't either. It's like any business and you treat it like a business. It's not a fraternity. We're going to do what we feel is in the best interest of our business. It's really no more than that.
"I have some ideas. Really not focused on it right now because our focus is on the draft and free agency. There's been a lot of speculation, wrongful speculation about a lot of things, particularly these last few weeks. No decision has been made because I don't have a definitive direction yet on where I want us to be. I just know that we're going to do some restructuring and when you make that decision then it obviously changes things."
