Another ex-Bears coach has found work.
Harry Hiestand has been hired as the offensive line coach at the University of Tennessee. Hiestand worked for the last five seasons as the line coach for the Bears. He was fired with one year remaining on his contract on Jan. 5 when the Bears swept out most of the offensive coaches.
It's a return to the college ranks for Hiestand, who had not worked in the NFL before coming with offensive coordinator Ron Turner from Illinois in 2005. The Bears' line played pretty well for Hiestand given the players he had to work with and the limited infusion of young talent the Bears had on the line.
Hiestand will work under offensive coordinator Jim Chaney at Tennessee. Chaney's name was mentioned as a possibility for the Bears' offensive coordinator job. He stayed on at Tennessee, though, when Derek Dooley was hired as coach after Lane Kiffin split for Southern California.
"It's an exciting opportunity," Hiestand told the school's Web site. "Being around campus and being around Coach Dooley and the staff that's there, you can tell it's a place committed to doing the right thing, winning football games and having quality people. I'm excited
to be a part of what Coach Dooley's putting together there."Hiestand is the third ex-Bears coach to find work.
He takes a position that the school considered Rob Boras for, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Boras, who was an original member of Lovie Smith's staff, took the same job coaching tight ends with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He essentially replaced Mike Tice, who came to the Bears as the offensive line coach. Luke Butkus has landed with the Seattle Seahawks.
Turner is still seeking work, as are Pep Hamilton and Charles London.

They hired Harry Hiestand as OL-coach.
Oh boy, they are going to be in for a big letdown.
I'm not surprised that..ahem...inept offensive coordinator Ron Turner hasn't found work. He was the worst of the sorry group of offensive coaches the Bears had.
Oh brother the Vols OL is gonna suck this year.
Good for him. Now, he's back where he should be as Olin Kreutz, Robero Garza, and the Bears lineman didn't seem to listen or respect him.
Too bad Tim Spencer and Darryl Drake weren't shown the door from Lovie's great(Ha!) College of Coaches experiment.
My Bears prediction is Mike Martz and Drake will not get along
