CHAMPAIGN -- Demetri McCamey and Mike Tisdale combined to score 41 of Illinois' 54 points in the victory over Penn State. But if the Illini want to defeat Michigan State on Saturday, they likely will need to find another option.

Illini coach Bruce Weber is hoping it's Mike Davis. Davis has struggled of late, scoring just 10 points in his last three games.
Davis arrived at the gym early on the morning following the Penn State game and worked on his shot with Weber.

"I know I've got to score more," Davis said. "Demetri and Tis can't carry the load in scoring in the Big Ten. I'm a scorer and my shot isn't falling right now, so I need to get in the gym more, that's all that means. I've watched a little film, I'm fading away on my shot; it's not a straight-up shot."

Davis and associate head coach Wayne McClain watched tape of last season's game against the Spartans at Assembly Hall when had 13 points and eight rebounds in a loss.

"It's my first time going through some adversity here," Davis said. "I've really never been in a slump and I've tackled it pretty well."
