RALEIGH, N.C. -- Brandon Sutter and Matt Cullen scored in a 26-second span in the third period, and Cam Ward made 39 saves to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Blackhawks 4-2.

Sergei Samsonov and Jussi Jokinen also scored for the Hurricanes, who have won five of their last six. Ward has stopped 129 of 134 shots in his last four games.

Marian Hossa and Andrew Ladd scored for Chicago, and Cristobal Huet made 20 saves. Ladd, who beat Ward with a wrist shot in the third period, helped Carolina win the Stanley Cup in 2006 before he was traded to Chicago for Tuomo Ruutu last season.

Chicago was 5-3 on its season-high, eight-game trip.

Huet has not proven to be a TOP tender in this league. I wish the Hawks could've gotten Giguere from the Ducks in some kind of a goalie swap. Last night wasn't totally HIS fault. We've been so sloppy in our own end for the last month. Behind the back passes at our own blue line ain't gonna get it boys. And Campbell, PLEEEEASE HIT SOMEONE!!! Half the goals scored recently have come near the end of the periods - so WAKE UP GUYS. I know it was a long trip and I asked for a 5 and 3 record - but, I'm concerned to see a continuation of what appears to be a lack of focus.

Yes Huet can let in some cheap goals in,bur I remenber what he did in mtl and washington.Huet was getting over 30 shots a game, now under 25.He's a goalie that needs those shots to stay sharp. When the hawks played the sharks thursday he had over 35 shoots. It was written in these pages that he rubed the game.So I think he's a good goalie but has a problem staying sharp when he is not receiving shots on net.

I said this at the beginning of the season and I'll say it again, the Hawks are a miracle away from winning the Cup this year with Huet in goal.

How many games has Huet had 30-40 saves? I don't know but not many.

Usually Hawks win because they overpower the other teams goalie but usually the other teams goalie is the better goal with more shots thrown at them.

Hopefully Niemi can step up and get more chances. He's had some incredible games but it seems everytime he gets an extra chance he has a bad game. Still, I think he's better than Huet.

How could the Hawks build such a great team and neglect the goalie? Imagine this team with Broduer or Luongo.

'Hawks looked like the last game on a very long road trip but give Cam Ward credit, the 'Hawks threw a lot at him and he played out of his mind.

Team Canada will be sorry they did not select him as their goalie. He can be unbeatable when he gets on a roll.

djsnyds I agree with your tough to beat in 7 & I think Huet scares the hell out of just about everybody. He gives up goals at critical times, that will deflate any team that's charging back into a game. You couldn't have said it better.

I still say once the playoffs start..the Hawks will be tough to beat in a best of 7 series.

That being said...Huet scares the hell out of me. The Hawks completely dominate on the offensive end tonight for multiple minutes at a time, and then the Canes come down two times and score two cheapies. Nothing can demotivate an offensive juggernaut more than a @#$%y goalie.
