A sputtering DePaul offense ignited too late Sunday.

Trailing No. 13 Georgetown 53-36 with 7 minutes 18 seconds to play, the Blue Demons cut the gap to 11 points, but couldn't get any closer and finally succumbed  67-50 before 8,595 fans at Allstate Arena.

The deficit -- caused in part by a scoring slump that saw only 11 points in a 15-minute span -- was simply too much for DePaul to make up.

After closing to 56-45 on a Will Walker three-pointer  with 3:50 to play, the Hoyas responded with an 11-5 surge, including six points from guard Chris Wright, who  collected a game-high 18 points.

The loss was the 21st straight in regular-season Big East play for DePaul (7-7, 0-2). After scoring 12 first-half points, Mac Koshwal closed with 16 points and 8 rebounds while Walker added nine.

The Hoyas (11-1, 2-0) also had 17 points from Austin Freeman, 13 from Jason Clark and 10 from center Greg Monroe.

Well, looks like another 0-18 in the Big East. DePaul basketball is a debacle. Not only should Wainwrong be shown the door, but AD Jean Lenti Ponsetto should follow right behind him. This is her mess.
