EDMONTON, Alberta--The Blackhawks wasted little time Tuesday night trying to ease the sting of their biggest loss of the season.

Jonathan Toews scored 44 seconds into the game and the Blackhawks hold a 1-0 edge over the Oilers after one period at Rexall Place.

Toews took a pass from Patrick Kane and fired a low shot from the left circle past Edmonton goaltender Jeff Deslauriers for his 18th goal of the season. The assist was Kane's 200th career point.

The Hawks are looking for their fourth victory in the sixth game of their season-long, eight-game road trip. The Hawks fell to the Canucks 5-1 on Saturday night in Vancouver.

Hawks goaltender Cristobal Huet stopped all six Oilers shots. The Hawks had 11 shots.
