PITTSBURGH -- Recently, Pitt offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr. emerged as a candidate for the Bears. And now, he says he's not looking to leave the school after only one season.

Cignetti, credited with upgrading Pitt's offense during a 10-3 season, said in a statement issued by the school Thursday night that he isn't considering an NFL coordinator's job or a comparable position at a different Top 25 school.

"My return to Pitt last year was the realization of a longtime personal and professional goal," Cignetti said in a statement to ProFootballTalk.com. "It was made even more gratifying by the outstanding season we enjoyed. I couldn't be more fortunate to work for Dave Wannstedt and coach these great kids. Despite recent reports connecting my name with other jobs, I am wholeheartedly committed to being at Pitt and continuing to establish our program among the nation's very best."

With Kurt Warner retired, why don't the Bears interview him for the OC spot? He certainly wouldn't be any worse than some of the candidates, and being a QB, he might actually be better than most.

What's more, he wouldn't necessarily have the same career hang-ups that a career coach would have, coming to a team with a lame-duck coach and management with its head up its keister. Warner has already proved himself. If it was awful working for the Bears, he could leave and no one would think less of him.

There is one name that has not surfaced yet that would be the answer to the offensive coordinator woes...Jeff Jagodzinski. He runs the right kind of scheme for our players, he works well with QBs, and he has experience running an entire team (Boston College) AND being in the NFL, so being master of the offensive side of the ball should not be an issue.

Jerry Angelo loved players coming out of that system, especially offensive linemen (Beekman, Colombo, Ryan Poles, Godsder Cherilus, etc.), so why not bring in the guy who set the scheme?

At least that would be a decent interview.

Yep, they should have shown Lovie and Angelo the Door. Right now we could have Cowher, and the best assistants in the league. But nobody, and I mean NO-BODY, is gonna come here and work for a lame duck and be out on their A$$ in a year. I think it's pretty clear that we're going to have to suffer though yet another 7 and 9 season or worse before anything really gets done about this mess. The McGutlessky's ride again.

Hey Don that's funny! Plus they could get a HS coach for less money.

Hahahahaa!! Time for Lovie and Jerry to start hitting the high schools now. Talent galore there!
