ESPN.com reports: The New York Yankees, who were known to be seeking starting pitching and reportedly had made inquiries about the Cubs' Carlos Zambrano, have acquired former White Sox pitchers Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan from the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Melky Cabrera and pitcher Mike Dunn, sources told ESPN The Magazine senior writer Buster Olney.
Cabrera had been mentioned as a possibility in the Cubs' quest for another outfielder.

@Oswaldo,
1) Vasquez was not the Sox best pitcher. He may have great "stuff", but he's a career .500 pitcher. He pitches well on bad teams and terribly on good teams.
2) They did not trade him for "nothing". They got Tyler Flowers in that deal who is their future catcher (as well as Brent Lillibridge - although he may not pan out).
3) I am pretty sure Vasquez will NOT win 18 for the Yanks next year.
"
4) When Vasquez does pitch well he only does it in the NL, not AL..
Good luck sucke.... err Yankess
Besides Tyler Flowers & Brent Lillibridge, we also acquired Jon Gilmore and a stud 20 year old lefthander named Santos Rodriguez. As far as Vazquez goes, if your team is out of the race (similar to when he pitched for the Expos) he is an outstanding pitcher. If the Yankee fans (who couldn't wait to get rid of him after 2004) want him to be successful, then hope your team is at least 15 games under otherwise he'll soil himself.
Notice a trend? He keeps getting traded.
Come on! The Sox best pitcher? Ridiculous statement. SoxFan Ethan has it right.
It doesn't matter if Vazquez implodes down the stretch or not. His 10-15 pre-September victories will be enough for the Yankees to realize a value from this trade, as they rack up 110+ victories and cruise into the playoffs. They have more than enough talent to win the World Series without a single postseason contribution from Vazquez.

Huh? Javvy was in pinstripes before and he imploded. Just like he did down the stretch in 2006 & 2008 with the Sox.
Javvy only pitches well when his team is out of it. When his team is in a penant race in the second half he is awful. He will not be able to handle the pressure in NYC. Again.
hey whadaya know, they just bought another world series
