The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports: Vikings coach Brad Childress said Tuesday that Adrian Peterson's facemask was grabbed on the overtime play in which Bears linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer punched the ball out of his hands, setting up the winning score.
The play was reviewed to make sure Peterson wasn't down when he fumbled, but whether cornerback Zackary Bowman grabbed Peterson's facemask was not reviewable.
"I think the guy made a pretty good strip play," Childress said of Hillenmeyer. "I know it was just before he got to the ground but not before he got his facemask tugged pretty good."

AP facemask was grabbed, was not blatant, other players obscured ref from seeing it, it didnt get called, probably happens several times a game on various plays, if it was called cry-baby Bears fans would be talking about that play until next year, I wish face mask penalties could only be called against players who are tackling a ball carrier and not linemen blocking etc, but I digress. As for other "non calls" against the vikes throughout the game, THAT HAPPENS ON EVERY PLAY, not only against the Bears you idiots, but if you breakdown what every player is doing on every single play in the NFL there probably could be a penalty called against both every time. Childress should be fired, Farve benched and T. Jack given the next start.
Actually BearGrills, if you watch a little closer you will see that A.P's head gets pulled to the side, therefore he grabbed the facemask and diddnt just "graze it".. Grazing the facemask would not jerk the players head to the side like that. But there was no ref that saw it and called it so it doesn't matter. It was a nice job on the defesnse punching the ball out so there really is nothing more to say about that.
BEST TEAM DOES NOT ALWAYS WIN!! SOMETIMES YOUR EGO IS YOUR WORST ENEMY, I JUST HOPE CHILDRESS LEARNED A LITTLE SOMETHING. "NOW WERE'S YOUR CROWN KING NOTHING"
How many points is a questionable "facemask" worth? If I am correct, you need to score in overtime to win, no? Go one-and-done-queens.
Funny, you don't here anyone on the Bears side reviewing the tape and complaining to the public that that Vikes(cheaters) kept getting away with illegal contact downfield, holding, pick plays, leg whipping ect....
Boo-hoo! What a whiner!
How about the fact that the refs never called the delay of game for brett throwing the ball into the ground after his sack ...
Childress is just mad because Favre made him look like a joke in front of his team. First half Favre ran the plays just the way Childress wanted. Second half Favre started checking out of plays and going to his hot reads and audibles. 0 points for Childress, 30 for Favre. That guy sucks he has had a loaded team playing like garbage and is trying to undermine his own QB who is having an MVP like season. Hahahaha, only the queens.
OMG! If u saw the actual video, Bowman's hand jus GRAZED the facemask, not GRABBED!!!! And it was only for a split second then Bowman moved his hand to AP's shoulderpad. Overall, did he touch the facemack, yes. Did he grab it, NO!!!!! Childress should shhut it b/c we gave him alot of opportunites to win the game but he couldnt get it done.
Childress is a cry baby. What about all the pass interference calls that were not called on the Vikes not to mention the holding penalties not called on them all year to protect Mr. Incredible.
It doesn't have to be blatant you idiot, a facemask is a facemask
Brad, Brad, Brad... are you looking for a one and done post-season? Keep your mouth shut and move on...
It's too late now, but, I also thought I saw a "facemask" on the replay, although it wasn't blatant.
