Determining blame for Jay Cutler's interceptions has become a popular thing to do.
He leads the league with 25, and clearly not all of them have been his fault. That's the way it is for every quarterback.
His new favorite target Devin Aromashodu stepped forward earlier this week and raised his hand for two of Cutler's three picks in Sunday's loss at Baltimore. He took blame, or tried to take blame for a couple of badly thrown balls.
Aromashodu was targeted 10 times and caught only two passes for 10 yards. Caleb Hanie's interception was also intended for Aromashodu as the throw went off his hand to cornerback Frank Walker.

"It could have been they were looking for me, maybe they knew I would get some more balls,'' Aromashodu said. "I don't think it really had an effect. I just didn't execute some of the plays like I should have."
The first interception by Domonique Foxworth came on a short route. He beat the receiver to spot as if he knew the call, and the Ravens were in a two-man look, allowing Foxworth to be aggressive on short throws because he had safety help over the top.
"He kind of played underneath the route," Aromashodu said. ``I still should have fought, you know, kept coming and at least tried to break the play up. They had a good call for our call.''
Cutler's final pass of the game was intercepted by Foxworth. The pocket broke down and Cutler moved to his left before throwing too short for Aromashodu. There was nothing he could have done to break the pass up. But it was another example of the quarterback and a young receiver not being on the same page when it comes to scramble rules.
"That was kind of a busted play,'' Aromashodu said. "Looking over the film, we went over it, I should have stretched the field a little bit more. I should have gone vertical on that, and once again that is on me."
Bright guy. As long as Cutler talked about his desire to see Aromashodu on the field more, the receiver is sticking up for the quarterback.
In the big picture, this is what the end of the season is for with two games remaining. Cutler and his young targets still need work. Coach Lovie Smith was optimistic about Hester's chance for a return when he spoke on Monday. We'll find out more about his availability a little later on today.
Even if Hester is back, it makes good sense to keep Aromashodu on the field a lot. The Bears need to find out what they have and let him work with Cutler. With a little more experience and communication, they won't be talking about as many picks.

Here's what I am wondering. Aromashodu gets more playing time, and follows up a good game with a horrible game, and Loviedovvie says Juan/Julio Inglesias the 3rd round waste of a pick from Okie can't get on the field because we can only dress so many receivers. So I guess that means a guy who has been cut by 4 other teams is better than our third round pick. Typical sad, sorry state of this organization. The stench is from top to bottom.
as long as lovie and angelo are here nothing will change, these two are garbage
I must have fallen asleep by the time Caleb Hanie came in, if you say he did. All I know is that it was 31-7 midway in the third quarter, and 31-7 at the end of the fourth.
Cutler has the arm, no question. Does Cutler have the football smarts, desire and past success to build confidence to get it done? No, Cutler is a work in progress. He is not the next coming as so many had projected him to be, the comment by Billick that Cutler reminds him a little of Jeff George speaks volumes.
Cutler has not been on a lot of winning teams, does that not concern all of us? A QB of his suppossed stature and talent, never really a champion, Why? Because he makes poor football decisions and has done that consistently in Denver and now in Chicago.
The arm he has, but he has yet to develop the will, desire and football smarts to be a elite QB. In the NFL right now, Cutler physical talent ranks in the top 10 but his production ranks in the bottom 5. Does Cutler have the mind of a winner? What qualities do winners have and who are winners?
Yes, he does need the top level WR a Number 1 go to target which he has not had in Chicago but must have next year.
Move Hester to the slot where he belongs, let Hester handle kickoffs and punts and full time slot. Find a go to WR that can play across from and get relief fron Bennett, Aromoshodu and Knox.
Some creativity in the offense and defense and who knows maybe the Bears will have a shot next year for the division albeit a long shot.
"I still should have fought, you know, kept coming and at least tried to break the play up."
SO WHY DIDN"T YOU?????? I'm sick of these rookies saying shoulda coulda woulda, THAT's the difference between number 1 receiver and wannabe's, NO ONE IS STEPPING UP!
No tackling (thanks Olsen), No physical play, No outsmarting the coverage. These boys will get NO WHERE FAST.
